LOL PF and Barr... he can play in the NFL. Consistency is an issue, but I like his mental make up. He has rare arm talent, if he can clean up his game and continue to develop we'll have a starter on our hands. If not, we have a backup QB to help us win games if Kirk misses time.
We (fans) need to look at this pick as an upside pick that improved our QB2 over Mannion (with the potential for more). Don't view him as a potential franchise QB and all that goes with that...
It's a good point...every fan base has a tendency of fantasizing on a drafted QB because so many have been successful as late round picks. I remember this site last year when we drafted Stanley and I kept having to say he's not an NFL QB. Mond, I dont know, perhaps he will be the Vikes QB after Kirk is eventually gone. The only thing I know is what I have seen at the collegiate level so hopefully he can improve.
This pick was a shocker for me. So unlike the Vikings to plan ahead at the QB position. I was a Mond fan before the draft and a hope and a prayer that he can develop into our own new age weapon.)
stoe this from an article online:
Even Newton, Ryan, Manning, Rivers and McNabb have had their struggles over the years, while some of the NFL's best quarterbacks were drafted outside of the first round.
Tom Brady was drafted in the sixth round, Russell Wilson in the third round, Drew Brees in the second round and Joe Montana in the third round.
just food for thought, and that you never know where the gold is lying in them dar draft hills!
For those that think Mond won't make it, you're probably right! Here's all the 3rd round QBs drafted:

Chris Simms is back on the mound for Kellen Mond.
When Simms released his quarterback rankings for the 2021 NFL Draft, it featured many surprises — among them, neither Justin Fields nor Trevor Lawrence was the No. 1 overall QB in this class, with the honor going to BYU passer Zach Wilson.
But to further complicate the rankings, Simms had Texas A&M QB Kellen Mond at No. 4, ahead of both Fields and North Dakota State's Trey Lance, behind Wilson, Lawrence and Mac Jones.
Simms explained more of why he liked Mond over Fields and Lance on a recent radio spot with 106.7 The Fan in Washington.
"To me, some of the issues he has, which is really, 'OK, he doesn't play enough backyard football and maybe he wasn't aggressive enough two years ago with some of his decision-making,'" Simms said. "Those are easy fixes as compared to some of the issues that I look at with Justin Fields and Trey Lance."
Simms has explained in recent months that Mond's combination of mechanics and arm talent put him firmly ahead of both Fields and Lance, and that Mond's supporting cast was weaker than most QBs in the draft.
Simms, who has been known for his wonky-yet-accurate takes on NFL passers over the past few years, is out on his own on this: Analysts believe that Mond is a Day 2 prospect behind the aforementioned quarterbacks.
But the former NFL quarterback says he's not doing it for attention or "clicks" and is determined to land a job in the NFL in the future.
Well, if this Mond prediction pans out to be correct, then he might expect some calls from NFL teams in the coming seasons.

It's definitely not good odds when you look at a list like this... a smattering of NFL starters, a handful of backups, and a number of guys that didn't last long at all in the NFL.
The thing with Mond... he has more physical talent than the vast majority of these guys... he improved over 4 years as a starter playing in the SEC... and he has a good head on his shoulders.
I think at worst he falls into the Jacoby Brissett, Chris Simms (ironic since he's super high on him now that he's a football analyst), and Colt McCoy tier... journeyman starter/long-time backup QB mold.
Tua looks like he might be bust material.....early however.

While I didn't put him above Lance or Fields, this is what drew me to Mond when I first watched him. He's a flawed QB, but his movement, motion and accuracy stood out. He has a chance.
