Of course they did. Probably early on, too. But were shut down...and rightfully so.

Vikings might consider a top QB to groom under Cousins. They might also consider a middle rounder to serve as backup and hope they get lucky. What they would never do, nor would any team ever do, is trade a top 10 QB for a lottery pick in the draft. 

It's like...hey P2 and Woods and Mac...you all signed one-year contracts because we're going for it, but PSYCH! we just traded our starting QB for a rookie! Hope you're OK with that.

No, it would never happen.

I know its hard for some on this board, but the Vikings actually LIKE Cousins at QB.

And it wouldn't surprise me if its true about Darnold and the 49ers. Or its completely horseshit. Gotta love liars's season in the NFL.

You know more than I do about what happens in Eagan, but I would say it never got to a point of offer/negotiation only because the 49ers were told early on that he was not available and don't waste your time.
