Why does this need to be political or whatever? How about just congratulate the guy for a great four days of golf on one of the most challenging courses in the game, and to be the first from his country to ever achieve the accomplishment and let it be that?
Congrats Hideki!
I don't think it's political. Racism isn't political. And I do appreciate the victory even more during a time when quite a few idiots are making it more difficult for Asians. Sometimes those victories are even sweeter to see.
Congratulations!
But the question is why make the congratulations about making a racial
Or political statement? Just let it be about what the guy accomplished without the need to bring up the ugly ?
Just let a good moment be good, the media does enough to sourr us to everything without doing it ourselves.
You must hate Jackie Robinson day.
i have zero fucking problem with pointing out that he was the first Japanese player to win a major, its the need to inject the Asian racism part into a congratulatory post that I find concerning. whats the matter had it been to long since a liberal reminded white America that we should all be ashamed of our whiteness and that we are all pieces of shit?
you must just thrive on this shit because you can help but try to stir the racism pot. PF did it off hand, likely without even thinking about it, but you and a few others get off on this shit. you dont want peace and equality, then you wouldnt have anything to stroke your self image of superiority.
it was a great moment in that he did something no other Japanese player had ever done, regardless of the social setting. Never mind the fact that regardless of race, skin color or whatever.... he just won the fucking masters.

The moment is still good. The moment is amazing! In reading the rest of the posts above, this went off the deep end. Ashamed of your whiteness?
I have a question. Imagine with me for a moment. If after the victory, Matsuyama had said 'During a time when there is Anti-Asian hate, being able to win the Masters is not only a victory for me and my country, but also for those whose voices are not always heard'. Let's say he followed that up with further conversation to bring more attention to the issue.
Now, I don't expect to hear that. I don't know how he feels. And it is not representative of the Japanese culture to make such a statement. But would that be taken as a reminder to be ashamed of your whiteness? Acknowledging the existence of something is not an attack on you. And it doesn't take away from the accomplishment.

why does everything we do these days have to stand as a moment for something else? why cant we be allowed to just enjoy something for what it is?
If Hideki had used his moment in the sun to make a point of the racial issues he Asians are having, that is on him and honestly its his right as an Asian and as the Masters winner to use his moment how ever he feels, but no, it was somebody else that decided to make that moment about something that it wasnt.
not every damn moment has to be about ugliness. half the problem in this country is everybody is trying to focus on the ugly and wont take a minute to just enjoy something nice for what it is.\
and is it really anti Asian? I have heard anti Chinese rhetoric from the ignorant masses, but nothing about the Japanese or the many other nationalities that make up Asia, and except for the real stupid fucks out there, its not really an issue with the Chinese people as much as it is with their government, which unlike the shitty government we have here in this country, its really hard to blame the citizens for its failures. Honestly I find it pretty unlikely that the Japanese could give 2 shits about how the world views China, they dont really care much for each other either from what I have understood over time.

Bit of irony making Masters history right when Asian racism is at its highest in Amerika since ww2
Oh yeah? Amerika with a "K" again?
Well fuck you sideways.
Hideki has won 31,210,000. Over 30 million dollars, in 10 yrs. $3mil/per-year. RIGHT HERE ON THE PGA TOUR UNDER YOUR FUGGIN NOSE> Avg before this week.
Career Money Leaders | PGA TOUR Stats
Over that span of 10 years, Hideki has 6 PGA wins. And this was his first major. (Jack Nicklaus has 19 majors, Tiger has 15...Hideki has.... 1)
Rumors are...this monumental win...is worth 1B. BILLION. Hideki Matsuyama winning Masters could be worth $1 billion, analyst says (msn.com)
Those poor fuggin Asians in Amerika......Good to know P-Faithful knows their plight and is on his way to help.
MY GAWD THIS COUNTRY SUCKS.
Nope, no superman but I will call out ugliness when it rears it's head in this country....Now aint a good time in this country to be Asian or a young, black male pulled over for driving violations.
Look, Savvie I come from a family of vets and navy men. My grandpa fought fascists in France, my FIL at 17 in WW2 dropped the soldiers off on the beaches in the asian pacific theatre and my BIL was stationed @ Pearl for over 20 years. May they both rest in peace.
We both love our country, but you and I are very different as to what we see, what is tolerable or not and the why behind it.
Be well...

then call it out when you see it, but you didnt see it watching the masters.
hell I saw a few white guys wait around after their rounds were complete to congratulate Hideki for his accomplishment. I saw a gallory made up predominately of white people that were on their feet cheering for him and applauding his win. I heard white announcers gushing over his accomplishment as both a golfer and a Japanese citizen. I guess they didnt get the memo that America ( no K in it) is over run with racist white folk that have nothing but hate for everything non white.
I come on here and see a white guys congratulatory post and decide to add my own only to read that its actually just another lefty reminding us how bad this country is. I know you didnt mean it that way, I know you arent that person, but it does wear on everybody when we cant just have a moment celebrated for what its really about.
EDIT: part of this is on me originally, I didnt see that this was put in ST board yesterday so I should have suspected that it wasnt about congratulating the historical Masters winner.
Jimmy, righties remind us how bad the country is as well, like on 1/6...
It's not just cancel culture or crazy lib's playing the race card too frequently. I dont stir the pot often, but the irony of this win was off the charts.
You be well too

I am not seeing the irony here. Nobody was trashing Hideki or the Japanese players, (or any Asian golfers) nothing you brought up had anything to do with the Masters tournament.
your claim of it being Asian racism and a Japanese player winning is weak. you do know that Asia is a continent and Japan a country right? you do know that he was being celebrated for being the first Japanese player to win a golf major, but is not the first ASIAN player to have done so.
and thank you, you take care as well.
Congratulations to Matsuyama for winning the Masters! A huge accomplishment and a testament to his hard work and perseverance to succeed in the challenging sport of golf! He'll remember the joy of this win for a very long time! Also, his win is a milestone for his country and he will serve as a potential role model for young aspiring golfers to emulate and strive for success in bigtime golf!
Americans love winners and golf is no different. Golf is not a racist sport, superior play is recognized for the so evident skill and widely applauded. Mr. Matsuyama's win was well appreciated, applauded, and recognized. Congratulations for a fine Masters tournament all around!
It is a historic achievement. He is the first. It is groundbreaking and something to celebrate. Good for Matsuyama. Another reality is hate crimes against Asians are high. Both are true. Historic accomplishment and hate crimes. He put his name in the record books and that's great. I am glad no one was trashing him. Enjoy the moment no doubt. Also do what you can to fight back against racism.
