It's just one of those things. Stats wont matter and there's metrics to support or refute just about any position somebody chooses to have on old KC...

Until he wins the biggie? Or gets em there?  He's nothing more than the big $ guy who can't play on MNFor in the clutch to many. 

The WFT trading him (I believe) cemented that in the minds of many nfl fans as well. It's so very reminiscent of Elway in Denver as @MB pointed out some time ago. 

And NFL fans are fickle too, it's always a "what have you done for me lately" thing. Vikings haven't don't well lately. 

I'm on record saying he's our best since Bert, and I truly believe that. But I'm also holding my breath with him in certain game situations - and I aint got a better Plan B than KC right now either.

Right now KC to Rudie in the corner of the end zone is my favorite play in his stint here.

The author of this story forgot to mention that Cousins threw 10 interceptions in the first 6 games and only 3 interception in the final 10 games.

The Vikings gave Cousins $40 million bucks last year and he starts off the season playing like a rookie.

The defense was going to start very very young corners, had no Hunter or Pierce, and had Odenigbo trying to play starter snaps.

Any intelligent football fan would have surmised that the defense would get off to a slow start.

The defense needed support from the offense.

Cousins, as an 8 year veteran, should have known that he was needed the MOST at the start of the season.

The Vikings went 1-5 in those games and may have lost anyway but Cousins sure did not help them out enough.  

Not for what he was getting paid.

At the end of the day, the Vikings have invested heavily in the QB and all they have to show for it is 1 playoff appearance in 3 years.

Is that worth it?  Is it any better than 2014 through 2017?

Note: Nowhere in this comment did I suggest to trade Cousins but I do think that the Vikings should be thinking about life after Cousins due to his $45M cap hit in 2022.

Author also failed to mention our sieve like OL. Or, do you think OL play is unimportant? And again, I'm almost positive having a D give up 32 points a game in the first six games, and eventually the third worst in franchise history, might have something to do with the outcome of the season. But, lets not let that cloud the argument.

The question is not about the stats or even if he is a good QB, the real question is Cousins a guy that elevates a team above its issues.  He is being paid like a top five guy.  Does he elevate a bad oline? Does he overcome a bad defense? Does he calm the players down and lead them to improbable victories?   Does he make average guys look like stars and stars look like superstars?

not only the poor O line, JJ wasnt out there much in the first few games, and no one had training camp / pre-season.  If our defense holds people under thirty points, what is that? five more wins? six?

Very few do...

Again, I get back to if you move from KC, who do you move to that's appreciably better? Rogers? Wilson? Give up the farm for Watson?

His cap hit isnt that egregious anymore. Not until they have to wrestle with next season and he'll most likely get extended in some ways to avoid that all together. 

Now if they draft the NDSU kid or Wislon?  Let em sit behind KC a year? That might make some sense if they have true conviction for one of em. 

I dont know if Zimsu would approve that with so much to prove this season and some big holes to fill in the trenches.
