Rallies: Red or Blue

I think Trump is going to win this. Record voter turnout. Biden made some strategic mistakes. Couldn't get Lindsay Graham out of South Carolina, either. Very, very interesting.

I think Trump could have been beaten, but not with a candidate as liberal as Biden. He was a weak candidate. I kind of laugh when I hear about the 'blue wave' hitting Congress every 4 years. Never happens. Liberal minorities don't vote. They act like they will, but then they don't.

While this is not the clear rejection of hate and incompetence that I was hoping for, it's far from over, and Biden still has the mostly likely path to victory. But it's closer than it should be.

Nevada is super tight, but looks somewhat likely for Biden with only mail-in ballots left to count. Arizona looks good with some already having called it for Biden (too soon IMO). Michigan is headed in Biden's direction, as is Wisconsin. But I don't trust Wisconsin. It's too close there. The remaining votes will likely favor Biden, but it's so close that any tiny variation in that could change the outcome.

And with those states, Biden doesn't need Pennsylvania or Georgia. Both of which are also in play. Either way, we probably won't know who won until Friday, as most expected.

This election is just another data-point as to the division in the country...

The "what and how" from Trump the last 4 years po'd a lot of people - but not his base. That base being a lot of SE states and also white, rural and even Puerto Ricans and Cubans.

Hell, there is even division in a blue state like MN - which Biden handily carried this race not to my surprise.

But when you look at the map of votes here? All of Bidens wins came from larger urban/suburban areas.

The red in MN?? Primarily rural

thats not uncommon at all though.  the metro area has always dictated what MN does.  Like I said yesterday the country's divide is not of Trumps doing,  its been fairly evenly divided for a long time,  the difference is that the half of the country that supported Trump in the past went along with what the R party wanted and they got screwed with politicians that served the swamp lords instead of the  people of the US and that half of the voters said enough is enough,  its time to put America first again.   This time around was no different, despite what some want to say, its not a racist/white supremacy thing,  its a battle of people wanting to preserve the traditional American way of life vs those that want a more progressive direction for our country ( and all the ideological differences at the root of each)

I would like to think you are right,  but with so much mail in, and inner city,  voting to still be counted and that reportedly weighing heavily in Bidens favor,  I have a feeling we see more of the pink turn to blue and trump ends up losing.
Yeah, I'm starting to see that now. I won't shed any tears over Trump getting ousted, that's for damn sure. But also aware that I'm not going to like some of the policy moving forward coming from Biden. But to me, its the price to pay for getting rid of the most un-Presidential piece of shit in the history of politics. JMO.

That's not just Minnesota, that's everywhere. Doesn't matter whether it's a deep blue state like Illinois or a deep red state like Alabama, cities vote blue, country votes red. The only real contest is in the suburbs,

I think the thing to really watch is wall street and the foreign currency markets,  they get their information as quick or quicker than anybody.   if stocks go in the shitter or if you see the Chinese Yuan suddenly spike,  thats a pretty good indicator of a Biden win,  vs wall street seeing a bump and the yuan go south,  I would guess Trump then has the upper hand.

The DOW opened up,  took a dip and then recovered,   The Yuan dropped all night but has steadied and has shown a slight uptick in recent hours,  right now its a complete coin flip IMO,  at least by reading my tea leaves.

I think it’s important to state that “the other person/group”
doesn’t cause division.

Division is a two way street, and requires both sides to participate.  Nobody forces you to act like a fool.  Your bad behavior isn’t their fault.

In our daily conversations, we need to be aware of when we
are being dividing.  Division isn’t
different opinions.  Division is about
not listening.  It’s about forcing your
opinion onto other people.

Also, most people aren’t being violent and are against violence.  People need to stop trying to pretend that a
handful of violent people are representative of parties at large.  The left isn’t responsible for or represented
by Antifa or other far left radicals and the right isn’t responsible for or
represented by white supremacists.  The
issue isn’t who is violent, because they are a handful of people, and not representative
of the majority.  The issue is: Will the
politicians and police departments let the small amount of violent people
commit crimes without arresting them because of political reasons.  Will they selectively enforce laws.  Will they choose sides.

The Republicans and Democrats are both wrong.  The problems we face are not left vs right in
nature.  The problem we face are broken
systems which serve the sub1% rather than the systems which serve all of us.
There is a difference though. I don't condone violence of any kind on either side, but I don't think you can compare Antifa to Nazis. There is a fundamental difference. One side is full of hate due to racism and the other side is opposed to that hate.

Take the violence away from both groups and we'd all be Antifa. At least we goddamn well should be.
I don’t think there is any evidence that suggests that Antifa
is against hate, beyond them just saying it.
I think to support the idea that they are against hate, you would have
to show that there is substantial focus in who they are violent towards, and
that it is hateful people.  There is
substantial evidence of Antifa attacking anyone who is in an area.  I think they are violent people who are
violent for the sake of violence and then just say some magic words that try to
justify it, because saying you are against the next Hitler lets you do anything.

Take whichever side you want, but as for me, while I don't support Antifa's methods when they are destructive or violent, I will always come down on the side of those who are anti-fascism, anti-racism before I ever side with those who are anti-black, anti-Jew, whatever.

I sometimes wonder what would've happened if Germany had a few more anti-fascists in the 30s.

I would rather not take either radical, violent side.  You can put whatever lipstick you want on that pig, but antifa is still domestic terrorists.  But glad to know which terrorist org you support.
