Rallies: Red or Blue
#1
I'm still trying to wrap my head around rallies...Forget about the party, don't rallies just rally your own base?

I dont see that as a way to persuade a voter who's on the fence. Maybe its the media coverage???

Seems outdated to me...

they are designed to try and get your base off its ass and to a voting booth.

it would be interesting to see what it would be like if election day was a national holiday.  I hate all the bullshit holidays we have already but I would support making election day a national holiday so there would be no more excuses.   Polls open 6AM to 8PM local times,  hell make it on a Monday so people have a long weekend and have the polls open for 3 days starting Saturday. Make the process easier in terms of getting people through polling stations so we can eliminate the areas of the process that can allow for tampering.

I would go so far as to have tabulation machines at every polling station so people can slip their ballots in and get an immediate confirmation that their ballot is valid,  no more hanging chads or other reasons to have any ballot discounted in the future.

what should be a beacon of hope for the rest of the world that doesnt have open elections has become a joke,  time to fix the process so we dont have the nightmare again that I am sure we will be facing after tomorrow... regardless of who wins/loses,  i am expecting to see a whole new level of disgust.

I work for one of the Pohlad companies...For those out of staters, they own the Twins and # of other lesser known entities.

Very progressive and they have closed all the business' on election day.

Went to a Trump rally yesterday.

Driving from baseball to a sports bar for lunch, and to catch part of the Viking game, we saw a handful of big ass trucks with Trump flags. Had to roll up my windows to prevent my kids from flipping them off. Good thing I did. As they got in my turn lane, I muttered "don't go to the Hoffbrau, don't go to the Hoffbrau." Sure enough, they pulled into the Hoffbrau, joining about a dozen other big ass trucks with flags. Apparently, the parking lot was going to be the site of a rally after some beer and bar food.

We were seated in the back and, sure enough, within minutes, we were surrounded by about 60 of the most caricatured Trump nuts. Trump flags worn as capes, blue haired ladies with Trump tiaras, bright red MAGA hats illuminated the dark corners of the bar. As plate after plate of tater tots loaded with cheese showed up at their tables, several other bar-goers were getting more and more uneasy. I heard one say to a man in Trump gear, "grow up." At that, my kids said, "dad, we gotta get outta this place...."

As the song by the Animals ran through my head, I asked my kids what they would give me if I stood on our table and shouted "Trump is a ****ing moron!" "Dad don't. DAD, DON'T!" my kids whispered nervously. I'm somewhat pleased they thought i might.

Resisting that temptation, I called our server over, "check please."

My wife and I were at the beach on Saturday early afternoon here in south Florida and two young guys in good shape where walking the beach with a huge pole with a Trump flag at the top of it. They were probably early 20s, in good shape without their shirts on,etc. Obviously paid to do this. As they walk by, I yell: 'Its nice to see the gay vote out and supporting Trump!!'. The whole beach cracks up and both guy's faces turn beet red and they yell, 'We aren't gay!' and I yell back, 'Its ok, I'm not judging you guys!'. More laughter and they kept walking and never came back.  B)

I was 3 Trulys in at that point. lol

I recall tremendous division and unrest in the country in late 60's/early 70's. I would have been a young boy at the time.

So lots of water under the bridge between then and now.

Under Reagan, Ford, Bush's, Clinton, Carter, Obama, I cannot recall anything that ripped the soul of this country apart as much as Nixon and Vietnam.

Until Trump.

For you its Trump causing the division,  for those that voted for him,  Trump is their answer to the division that was/is being created by the direction that the democratic party is taking this country... its not Trump,  its the push back by the other half of the voters in the country,  Trump is just the ugly face of what half this country sees as a poor direction for our nation.

Political dogma aside as we all have our own political bend, you can't tell me Trump is attempting to bridge differences, unite the country, or anything of that vein. Not with a straight face anyways.  You and I both know he thrives on conflict and derision. He dont like people comfortable and at peace. I'm sure it was like this working for one of his companies too - corporate culture wise.

There is no depth or vision beyond the statement of MAGA. None.

But we've all been down this rabbit hole already...Time to vote.

Times Square on Sunday...Trump supporters vs not.

Sad, sad time for this country, regardless of political leaning

I am not telling you anything of the sort.  Just like there was no truth or unity in the 8 years prior to Trump.  I have a feeling most people on  the left feel about Trump the way most people on the right feel about Obama care, his social platforms, and the new green socialist deal that is certainly going to accompany a Biden victory.

its not Trump though,  (well not completely)  i am fairly certain that anybody that made the strong pro American statements and rallied the conservative base like Trump has done would have had the same polarizing affect on the American voters.

as far as MAGA... well thats been hashed out plenty... yep its time once again to hold our noses and vote.
