OT: Once a Upon a Time in Hollywood
#11
I liked it, Pitt and Decaprio performances were brilliant, basically they play caricatures of themselves and look like they are having a blast doing it.  This alternate history is just for entertainment not any social commentary.  Never thought there could be a humorous tale about that event.

I really liked it.  I wasn't sure how much I liked it until is was over though.  Was it a favorite QT movie?  Probably not, but it had it's moments.  Brad Pitt kicking Bruce Lee's ass was funnier than shit.  B)

Adding the Stones was just a bonus for me.  I almost had forgotten how much I love "Out of Time" and I loved how well it fit with this movie.

I'm 80 minutes in. Not sure if I should finish or get my gums scraped.

Could not agree more.

Side commentary - the problem with alternative/revisionist history is that a good amount of people believe those versions and not the actual facts, but I digress Smile

I agree Minny hollywood is fast and loose with history in general but most historical movies end the same way as the real history.  But as the younger generations tend to get thier history from entertainment it bugs me a bit.  To totally change the outcome of this tragic story I am hesitant to be thrilled about this trend.  QT is brilliant and I liked his ending even though the violence approached the absurd which was his point.

I finished, but it was a struggle.

*softball*

Felt like this could have been done in 120 minutes...when the date and timestamps started appearing I thought "here we go"...it was ok, ending was creative,  but I would watch Pulp Fiction 15 times before even considering watching this again...

Watched this last night with my kids.
Um....really?
When Pitt finally picked up the street-corner hitcher....and she offered her 'services'....your kids  watched that?

Hopefully your kids were asleep by then.  Smile

I generally love QT movies (never in theatre, refuse to spend the $$)   He (QT) never assumes I'm an idiot with plot/dialogue.
Beats most of Hollywood pablum.

My kids are 13, not 6. They know what a prostitute is.

The strong violence ... when does Hollywood recognize their contribution to desensitizing kids?

Or do these school shooters watch Hallmark movies while playing the WII?

I will watch with my son this weekend ... even though Barr’s advice rings true.  Hollywood thinks the longer the movie is, the better.

I loved a beautiful day in the neighborhood if everyone is looking for something a little more wholesome.

Fred Rogers was an awesome individual.
