OT: Coronavirus
3,000 NYC police officers have called in sick. That city is in dire straights. One of the problems is wealthy New Yorkers are fleeing to their 2nd homes across the country, spreading out the virus even more. South Florida has an executive order from the Governor that all flights from New York the passengers have to self quarantine for 14 days. They are being heat tested at the gates. They have an app to track them. Crazy shit.

I think those things look silly as hell,  but about every nurse I know loves those shoes so kudos to crocs.
Good on them

Thought the same thing, no way I would ever wear those things, I wear stylish Keens.  Then I was hobbling around with plantar fasciitis, got the shots, orthotics.  Now I find my self wearing a pair of those things and Birkenstocks around the house.  Didn't start wearing them in public, but now depending where I am going, Theisen's Crocs, food coop Birks.  Comfortable as hell, but a true fashion statement.  Styling is getting out with the Hoka One One's on, that's when I wanna impress the chicks.

These little beauties right here are called OOFOS, they are the most comfortable flip flop I've ever worn and 2nd place isn't close. I get that down here in Florida you get to wear flips more, but I can walk 3 miles in these easy:

In Iran, false belief a poison fights virus kills hundreds
By NASSER KARIMI and JON GAMBRELL Associated PressMarch 27, 2020 — 5:30am
TEHRAN, Iran — Standing over the still body of an intubated 5-year-old boy wearing nothing but a plastic diaper, an Iranian health care worker in a hazmat suit and mask begged the public for just one thing: Stop drinking industrial alcohol over fears about the new coronavirus.
The boy, now blind after his parents gave him toxic methanol in the mistaken belief it protects against the virus, is just one of hundreds of victims of an epidemic inside the pandemic now gripping Iran.
Iranian media report nearly 300 people have been killed and more than 1,000 sickened so far by ingesting methanol across the Islamic Republic, where drinking alcohol is banned and where those who do rely on bootleggers. An Iranian doctor helping the country's Health Ministry told The Associated Press on Friday the problem was even greater, giving a death toll of around 480 with 2,850 people sickened.
The poisonings come as fake remedies spread across social media in Iran, where people remain deeply suspicious of the government after it downplayed the crisis for days before it overwhelmed the country.
"Other countries have only one problem, which is the new coronavirus pandemic. But we are fighting on two fronts here," said Dr. Hossein Hassanian, an adviser to Iran's Health Ministry who gave the higher figures to the AP. "We have to both cure the people with alcohol poisoning and also fight the coronavirus."
For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia, or death.

I agree. My sister is a doctor and she swears by them. It's a great thing they are doing.
