New York governor: "We’re not going to put a dollar figure on a human life"From CNN's Adrienne Vogt
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo pushed back against comments by President Trump that he could reopen the US economy while keeping an eye on some of the most at-risk populations, including seniors.
“My mother is not expendable. And your mother is not expendable. And our brothers and sisters are not expendable,” Cuomo said. “And we're not going to accept a premise that human life is disposable. And we're not going to put a dollar figure on human life.”
Cuomo said saving lives is most important, but there can be an “intelligent” strategy for getting people back to work.

I mean... unless it's a baby. Then, go ahead and kill it, right?

Well... I am against the death penalty, so there goes that whole theory. But, regardless... you don't see the difference between a criminal and a baby? Seriously?

There is another board for that debate if you choose to have it.  Please keep this board politically neutral.

Fair enough. You’ve been doing a fine job moderating this thread; I just have a hard time ignoring that constant talking point by politicians and it sickens me. I’ll do my best to refrain from reacting to that message going forward.

Good. We homeschool and I mostly work from home so this isn’t all that different for us. My wife is going a little stir crazy, but the weather is starting to warm up, so we can take the boys on walks now. They are 5, 4, 3 and 2 now, so they have plenty of energy. how about you?

Our Govt and the Dept of Health let our country down.
Oddly, our country was best prepared (more than any other country)  as per Washington Post reportage/ Johns Hopkins study late October '19.  (Somehow prescient on this subject 6 mos ago)
https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/20...port-says/
So every country was more un-prepared?  But we (US) were least un-prepared?

If "we" were let down...how sad is the rest of the world?

Trump's poll numbers (per Gallup) are at near highs. https://news.gallup.com/poll/284156/trum...-best.aspx
People clearly are not blaming him.
We (US) were CLEARLY behind the curve on "testing kits".  No doubt.  However, as I mentioned in a separate thread, that was more a "science failure", than a "political failure".
https://www.statnews.com/2020/03/10/shor...s-testing/

As a member of the health care community, I take your post to heart.
