I find it funny that all these off-season moves seem to reflect poorly on Zimmer.
in hindsight, Wobby didn't want to be with Zimmer either so we're at 5

i must say I am a bit confused with some of the pessimism I am reading. Scroll back through the threads a month or so ago and most of us were stating then what we're seeing now.
Cap money was tight and drastic cuts were coming. And surprise....they are here. Griff had a great 2019 and earns a shot at his final big pay day. But he and his agent knew the Vikes were never going to ante up for that type of deal. Stating disappointment or taking it as a personal slight from management is disingenuous. Diggs' situation, as pumpf said, was entirely different. He got his wish. And got paid handsomely. Losing Mac and Weatherly while disappointing, is not crippling. Losing Dejo is ironic as most disliked his play or saw him as just another guy. And Kearse while a good utility and depth player was never a key to the defense and not irreplaceable. Most saw Trae as too expensive for his production and his departure was seen as inevitable. So when the dust settled we landed a solid DT in Pierce, got additional picks with now two first rounders. We have depth on the roster that will now be given the opportunity to step up with the addition of free agents and the 2020 draft class. But to cast shade at Zim that the team is crumbling before our eyes and those that left all left for the same reason and have irrevocably crippled the franchise? I certainly don't wear purple colored lenses, but call it the cap pigeons coming home to roost or the financial growing pains of a first-class defense finally getting their payday. In either case change is not only inevitable but IMHO rather exciting. Skol!

Bottom line Griff is 32, Vikes are cap strapped and couldn't or wouldn't pay him what he wanted. Life in the NFL.

I think you're just stretching too far for the Zimmer angle to justify being pissed off. I'm pretty pissy about it myself, but I really think it's bigger than Zim. It has never been easier to look at our moves in the recent past and point to such blatant mismanagement from the top. FSU nailed a ton of takes on this offense the week of the playoff game and our problems heading out. He laid out in great detail great steps the front office needed to take to correct some nicely colored problems... Unfortunately, we're finding out that there is no plan at the top of this organization, there is no direction; the reality is becoming we're just throwing the best shit we can grab at the wall and seeing what sticks. "We have the draft capital to move up for a franchise QB now, too bad we resigned Cousins" is the most unfortunately perfect comment i've heard that symbolizes Rick's tenure as our GM.

Snapper, punter and kicker the Vikings are very solid with. Its nice to at least be able to have confidence in that group, one less concern for Zimmer.

The hardass coach tends to engender a certain fan loyalty that transcends a factual analysis of his performance because "hey, tough guy!" He mostly cannot win big games and players I think must know this. I also think the noise about Diggs wanting out due to Cousins was just that - noise. To me Digg's departure was about Zimmer and to a lesser extent Zimmer's run heavy philosophy. I observed over the years that Zimmer rarely praised Diggs and I think he resented the diva side of his personality. The rumor that when Diggs skipped practice, Zim got up in the room and said eff that guy just strikes me as over the top, useless behavior. Would he say that about one of his defensive pet pupils? I doubt it. Other players have to see him bagging on a guy whose contribution on the field was solid and wonder what it's about. A guy missing a couple practices doesn't really warrant such an exaggerated reaction, though maybe it was just one of Zim's many mysterious and largely ineffective attempts at motivation, like stuffed animals in the locker room or something. And Mac Alexander taking peanuts to play for one of the worst franchises in football tells me something too and it's not something positive about the inner workings of the Vikings.
