My girlfriend works at a cancer center near Asheville. Their clinic manager believes pandemic is no big deal and isn't putting any additional protocols in place other than screening at the door. There are more safety precautions in place at the local Culvers restaurant.

Weaponized stupidity or indifference.  Murica!
Wow. That is mind blowing. Unfortunately, some weaker minded people are politicizing this and believe its nothing more than a 'leftist hoax'. Crazy times indeed.

I saw where local med students who aren't quite ready to get turned loose are now helping Drs and Nurses by babysitting their children, running errands etc. for them.

For us, we're going to help local biz with take-out and while we've suspending some household services, those people need the $ and we'll continue to pay them till normalcy returns.

Thats the plan anyways.

Hunker down people...

are there any more immune system compromised people in the world than those that are getting cancer treatments?  WTF,  were is the state department of health on this one.

I know everybody is looking to the federal govt to be the ones making shit happen,  but really that shouldnt be their role,  our state and local govts are in a much better position to see what is happening locally and the fed really should just be playing the role of the one that makes the shit happen that the local govt requests or cant make happen on their own.  If those of us in rural areas waited for the fed,  we would all be dead a long time ago.  they can come in after the fact and help pay for the solutions or at least we have a direction we are working towards while the feds are looking for a globe to help them find South Dakota.

I hope somebody is able to make that stupid ass manager see the light... or somebody puts her lights out. Confused

My SIL works as an RN in an elderly care facility,  as soon as the first case was discovered in SD their director set a protocal in place where every employee that had been out of state recently was furloughed and ordered to quarantine for 2 weeks before they could return to work,  and the rest of the staff was told that they would be working a minimum of 60 hour weeks until they were back to full staff or the situation allowed for less precautions.   That was proactive!

@JimmyinSD My girlfriend will be involving upper management today. She's had enough of patients as well as herself being unnecessarily put at risk.

Normally I'd agree about the state vs. federal interaction, but this is a pandemic. This isn't recreational marijuana or gambling. Its unprecedented and we don't know how many people are affected. They should shut this shit down nation-wide and flatten the curve. There is no country in the world more mobile than the United States. The administration waited and the President at one point called it 'a hoax'. That was detrimental to getting a proper handle on this.

My son was talking to a peer this weekend and the other kid was down playing the risk and said there was only a 3% chance that he could catch it... my sons response was

"if I put a bag of 100 skittles on the bar and told you that 3 of them would kill you,   I bet you wouldnt fucking touch that bad of skittles"   I laughed pretty good at that one.
