No offense,  but this sounds hokey,  I would guess that about every pharma company on the planet is working on a cure for this virus.  Why would our govt be locking in on this one company for this reason.  I dont doubt that we have courted this company for other reasons,  just as states try and lure companies from other states,  countries do the same thing,  especially in tech and science fields.

Key is to keep banking liquid so those in greatest needs can get the help - if the system actually works.

In MN, they won't test you, even if they have the test, unless you check of a list of symptoms provided by the MN Department of Health.

How would have accepting test kits earlier from the WHO affected policy medical facilities are bound to by the MNDoH to even administer a test?

That's not a snarky policial quipper, it's an honest question.

The states are going by the restricted criteria from the CDC. There is supposed to be some flexibility and revision to this initial stated criteria but clearly there are still issues. The states are trying to do what they can beyond the lack of assistance from Washington. I was down in Rochester and they have the tents set up. Mayo Clinic labs are trying to make test kits.

Dr. Antony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, urged Americans to shut down more aggressively as the coronavirus spreads.

On MSNBC’s “Meet the Press” Mr. Fauci endorsed a 14-day “national shutdown” to help slow down the virus. He explained that he has brought it up with the administration, which is generally open to his ideas.
“I think Americans should be prepared that they are going to have to hunker down significantly more than we as a country are doing,” he said.
On ABC’s “This Week” the doctor explained that lockdowns helped China and South Korea fight the rapid spread of the disease in their countries. China, he said, has reached its peak and is starting to see number of cases drop, whereas South Korea has flatlined.
However, he warned that while its hard to predict exactly how long the virus will be a threat, the U.S. should prepare for this to last for several weeks or a few months
“What we should be doing is absolutely much much different. Not business as usual. Just chill down,” he said on ABC.
