Could The Vikings Trade Diggs This Offseason?

sick of his “bitch” like act.  Send him to Cincy for the first pick in the second round.  See how many endorsements he gets there.

This needs to be handled asap and not left to linger.  His drama is toxic and unnecessary.

trade for 33#
I agree with not caving to his whims to send a message,  but why cut off your nose to spite your face?   You take the best offer no matter where it is from except maybe if it was in the division.  send him to the AFC would be ideal,  or to an NFC team that traditionally struggles like the redskins.

One idea i have been having would be to work a sign and trade with the skins where they resign Trent Williams or Brandon Scherff to a new deal and then we trade them Diggs for their OL, that way the signing bonus money we are eating on Diggs is offset by the bonus money that they would be on the hook for on their end.   It would lower our asking price since we wouldnt have to account for that 9 million hit and still have to pay another players signing bonus.  Its also not real likely that Diggs would come back to haunt us in the playoffs in DC anytime soon,  and it would fill a need for us with a top tier player at their position.

Ok, I have made a point of not commenting in this thread up until now because I am a Diggs fan girl and this thread is making my eyes bleed. But, for argument’s sake (and this is a legitimate question from me not sarcasm), please someone tell me why Diggs is pissed? Is he mad about his contract and his numbers compared to his best friend Adam’s numbers? Is he mad about not getting the ball more? The offense Zim wants to run? Does he dislike Cousins so much that he wants off the team? Is his jock too tight and we’re over the cap and can’t afford to get him a new one??? What’s the reason???

I know this kid is emotional and a hot head and loses his cool at less than great moments, but if anybody thinks Thielen plus a rookie plus Bisi Johnson is going to set the league on fire next season I think you’re sorely mistaken...and I love Thielen a ton, but he can’t do it alone...I guess I just hope all this drama works itself out over the next few months, because otherwise it’ll make me nearly as sick as when we traded away a certain other receiver back in the day...
I cant speak for everybody,  but I am about done with Diggs,  and its not because I dont love his play,  its the drama.   If he cant come out and say whats on his mind and be done with it then get what we can get and move on, or at least point out that he isnt in as huge of demand as his antics portray.  If he wants to be here and wants to help this team finally win a championship then I wish he would STFU and tell the cowherds and other media monsters thats what he wants so the focus can be on other things.  ( i dont really like social media to begin with, and especially the way Diggs is using it by laying out crypitic bait for people to sit and speculate on all day)
I’m not a fan of drama either Jimmy, but regardless of that I don’t want a repeat of transitioning from one very good player (well, elite in Randy’s case) to a rookie with way too many expectations placed on him immediately. I’ve read here that this is a very deep WR class this year but we’d need someone who can step in and start right away, which to me necessitates drafting a receiver high to get one of the best of what’s available...which in turn pushes back other glaring needs that we should be addressing high in this draft. It just throws more fuel on this problematic fire. And, like him or not, we know this team is much weaker on O without Diggs.

I am sure that there is more going on than any one of us knows. But saying he is jealous of Theilen is funny. I dont think that is the case at all as Diggs knows he is the better receiver.

Throwing away a WR that takes doubles on a regular will be a tough pill for many to watch next season. Especially with Adam coming off that "torn" hammy and not at all looking the same after that. Add that to he will be 30 before next season starts.

Be careful what you wish for

I feel like this is one of those stories that seems like a big deal in the off-season news fodder cycle, but ends up becoming nothing...  let's face it, the Vikings have no incentive to trade him and would need a huge trade offer to even consider it.

I guess I'm not getting too worked up either way about it.

Yes, I don’t really believe Diggs is jealous of Thielen’s contract either, it was just one of the many theories I’ve heard over the past few months. I agree with everything you said here, especially with reference to Thielen coming off an injury that kept him out most if the season. If Diggs truly wants to be traded and then ends up demanding it then moving on is what happens I guess. I just don’t want things to come down to that and I’m hoping that it’s all a bunch of BS. I want to believe it’s like Wetlander said above, so for now until a horse’s mouth opens or the fat lady belts out a tune I guess I’ll go with that.

I dont think you need to go WR in the first to replace Diggs,  WR is such a crap shoot that you are probable just as likely to find a replacement in the 3rd as you would in the first round.  as far as them taking Williamson to replace Moss... well that was an epic blunder that even a 14 year old should have seen coming,  I would hope that Rick is smarter than that.

Maybe not in the first but a lot of fans are going to clamor for a big name if we trade away our big name. Maybe that would mean we get one of the top OL or DL with the pick, but then we better hope our trading partner is in the top 10.

I think for me I see us going through a lot of roster changes this off season and I really don’t want to add losing our best WR to that change.

I dont really want to lose him either,  but if he isnt happy.... then I would rather get a max return for him than to wait until he really blows up and his value drops because teams know that he has to be moved.   not to mention,   his value will likely never be greater than it is right now.
