Kanye West

He said the 13th should be "abolished," and then corrected himself as meaning 'we need to amend the 13th.'

The 13th amendment, in this context, has been interpreted as a double edged sword - flaunted by some as the amendment that ended slavery, and grieved by others who feel it is a legal scam worded in a way that allows "involuntary" prison labor to exist legally - essentially it's own form of slavery. The amendment both abolishes slavery and creates a legal framework for the existence of involuntary labor. Basically, it's 100% legit if it's punishment.

What's slightly ironic to me, is that the left is generally the side that is calling out the police for racism. And also I can go find an Immortal Technique album from the early 2000's or other hip hop albums from the 90s where they call the country out for allowing this form of "slavery" to exist... arrested and put to work. It's not a new or foreign concept. It's just not a 'nightly news' conversation - it something relegated to individual artists attempting to take a stand over injustices people face.

Do we care if criminals or prisoners are forced into involuntary servitude in this country? Does that create an incentive, of any kind, to arrest people? I think that's where the discussion would continue if we could get passed the mistake of using "abolish."

Is this the guy you really want to hold up as the face of black republicans?
I mean so what would you prefer?  Are republicans supposed to toss out another republican because he's not enough republican or to much republican or whatever grievance there is today?

If you want to vote republican go for it.  If you don't thats fine to.  There's no quality assurance test.  I couldn't even name a Kayne West song/movie/youtube thing or whatever the dude is famous for without googling it.  I can remember actors/actresses faces in films but can't name 99% of them because I frankly don't care.

I'm a little late to this, as I just watched the press conference, but what is the big deal?  I was expecting there to be something more dramatic given all the people talking about it.

I was expecting him to be barely coherent and off his rocker given his mental health issues, but he communicated his points well, bridged the left and right.  I thought Trump basically just let him speak and generally was respectful which I hope he would be towards his guest.

Is it just that Kanye has a more red pill take than the mainstream is used to?  What am I missing here?
Oh, I dunno. Maybe the fact that he said the 13th Amendment should be abolished (prior to coming to the White House).

What's happening to America? How did you NOT find his sit down with Trump hilarious?! Holy shit, he's rambling about how putting a fucking MAGA hat on makes him feel like Superman. We have a reality star meeting with a mentally ill rapper in the OVAL OFFICE and people are going, "Well, I mean, hate me for being a conservative but I think this is totally normal." Holy SHIT!
To me, I found the MAGA slogan to be much more empowering
than anything put out in Hillary’s campaign.
I think Hillary’s campaign felt very idle to me.  It felt like we’re going to sit around in
solidarity with each other, support each others victimhood, point fingers at our
various enemies (which as a white American male ends up being me every time),
and it felt like more of the same.  Obama
was very stately and well spoken, but I don’t think he was a leader.  Bush was the biggest puppet president that I
can remember.  Trump for all his flaws is
energetic, is an entrepreneur, a builder, an organizer, etc.  His MAGA campaign resonates with people
across the country, because we are a country of builders and doers.  His slogan isn’t I will make things great for
you.  It’s a command.  It’s together we will make America great.  I’m tired of everyone pointing fingers at
each other.  That energy is draining and
it leads nowhere.  I truly think that if
we just stop trying to belittle each other from our couches and laptops, we’ll
realize that for the most part we all want the same things.  If we ignore the few differences, we can work
on what we all want to achieve, and things will get done.

I look at Kanye’s “rant” and I see a lot of myself.  I see a guy with passion.  I see a guy who wants change.  I see a guy who has a knack for wording
things goofy in an extreme manner, and everyone else takes it out of the
context I had in my head.  As someone who’s
comfortable with outside the box thinking, I can see where he’s coming from on
a lot of issues, even if it doesn’t make sense at face value to most people.  And if he has two good ideas and 3 crazy
ones, I’m fine with talking about his good ideas and not belittling him about
the 3 I don’t understand.

I don't think I have any use for any news media outlets any longer: they all are tainted with strong bias. What's more insidious: Fox News' over-the-top, almost parody-like coverage or an outlet like CNN or NBC that continues to act like its legitimate and unbiased with a righteous, smug face? I'm not sure anymore quite honestly. They both stink. They only present to viewers a redneck, MAGA hatted jughead or a red-faced, screaming psycho liberal as what our country represents. That's it. And I'm sick to death of the racist accusations for EVERYTHING.

I've had way beyond my fill. I won't engage in its obvious manipulation from whatever side it comes.

This is close to how I feel right now.  Any time I see a “news” report claiming that
some person said something, usually a very short quote probably a sentence long
surrounded by a lot of opinions, I roll my eyes that they didn’t feel it was
necessary to link to the actual speech or whatever in it’s full context.  Just show me the video and I’ll make up my
own mind.

I have to point out for the 800th time I think Hillary was garbage, her campaign was terrible, and the Democrats shot themselves in the foot dozens of times in 2016.

As for your feelings on Trump, I just don't see it. I guess I can't really argue if that "Make America Great Again" slogan actually evokes some kind of emotional response from you. That is what it is, but arguing that Trump is an entrepreneur, a builder, organizer, etc. is just so patently false, I don't understand how people keep parroting it. He inherited hundreds of millions from his daddy, squandered almost all of it, failed over and over again... the guy is truly, unarguably, a terrible businessman. But that's what he runs on: getting people to think he's a self-made billionaire.

As for Kanye, well... to each their own. The guy is mentally ill, but if you like it, have at it. I personally never even liked his raps, and that was when he was "normal" back in the mid-2000s.

Kanye needs to "move the needle" by 10%.

New project, new album:

"Jesus is King".

I hope this is most about Jesus, less about Ye/Yeezy/KW.  We'll see.

Kanye's new project = new interviews!

"Ican’t tell y’all how to feel, but what I can tell you honestly is how I feel,” West began. “And when I sat there seven years and six years into the Obama administration, when I was sitting out there at the Met Ball, when I was sitting in front of white people and they thought ‘I wouldn’t have thought you’d like Trump because of the racism.'”

"So you mean to tell me I make every decision based off my color?  West asked. “The most racist thing a person could tell me is that I’m supposed to choose something based on my race.”
