Trump now wants to defund the US Post Office

Again, I’ll repeat.  Rural America votes red (2 out of 3 rural voters).  Rural america is supportive of Trump who for whatever reason now feels the need to dismantle the postal service.  Again, these are people who are being fooled voting against their own interest.  Rural America is going to get fucked big time if the post office falls apart.  Their medications won’t be delivered on time, their costs for basics will go up.

I just shared with you general population statistics of people who will be hurt by the removal of the post office.  Your anecdotal evidence doesn’t apply to millions of people as a whole.  Small businesses, VA members, prescription medication recipients all rely on the USPS, these are typically GOP voters, red voters, Trump voters.  Voting against their own interests.

When the private companies step in to pick up the slack in the end, who do you think will pay for it?  FedEx UPS and Amazon will eat the cost because they are true to American values?  Absolutely not.  You will pay for it, Americans will pay for it, the prices will go up and people will have to wonder, “why”

Speaking of why, why now? Hmm . . .
You're projecting.  Yes, I am well aware that rural areas tend to vote Republican.  But, where can it be found that rural voters want to destroy the USPS?  Where can it be found that I want to destroy USPS?  You can't find any quotes because they and I are not seeking to destroy the USPS.  It does need to be reconfigured to reduce losses but not destroyed.

Again this has nothing to do with how often country folk want their mail.

This is a purposely aimed attack to undermine yet another American institution to undermine people’s faith in ...

https://www.yahoo.com/news/machines-usps-removing-distribution-centers-120300110.html

Mail-sorting machines used by the United States Postal Service (USPS) have been dismantled and removed from distribution centers around the country, according to postal workers. They told Motherboard that at least 19 machines were removed without explanation. An internal USPS letter from June included a plan to remove hundreds of more mail-sorting machines this year.

Postal Workers Union members and some Democratic politicians have expressed concerns about changes to the USPS under Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, a major Trump donor who started his position this summer. President Trump has attacked the USPS and claimed that voting by mail has a high rate of fraud, without evidence.
The USPS has more eyes on it than ever with continued mail-in voting forced by the COVID-19 pandemic. Here's how the sorting machines being removed from distribution centers work.
The machines removed from USPS distribution facilities were delivery barcode sorters (DBCS).

Putin is laughing his ass off right now as Trump is dismantling our democracy and turning us into a banana republic.
And here I was thinking the “quote button” was self explanatory that my reply was to skodin who seemed to think us rural floks would somehow fall off the map without daily postal services.

As for all this post office bullshit. The PO delivers 472 million pieces of mail daily. There will be in the neighborhood of 130 million votes cast in the 2020 election. Then reduce that figure by all of the people who will vote in person. To think the PO couldnt handle every mailed ballot is ridiculous.

This is nothing but a PR move by the post office to secure more funding that theyve been asking for since January.
And the delays for the mail are a PR stunt?
There always has been and will always be delays in mail.  I can count with 1 finger the amount of times it has effected my life.  I ordered something with overnight shipping and it didn't come overnight.

Seniors and veterans not getting critical medication on time is a PR stunt?Oh my God you found a veteran who got delayed getting something in the mail?  Out of the 2.8 billion pieces of mail that get delivered weekly statistics would sugest you could find a person of all races, genders and creeds with mail they didn't get on time.  You're dropping the ball though, what about the children?

Removing crucial mail-sorting equipment  to deliberately cause further delays is a PR stunt?Yes

Hiring freezes, not allowing OT to help them get caught up is a PR stunt?
Yes

Oh it is a stunt alright, from a fucking corrupt administration hellbent on fucking up yet another US institution just to sabotage the election in their favor and HE EVEN ADMITTED IT ON NATIONAL TELEVISION.Relax, everyone is going to get to vote.

Go sell crazy elsewhere, blame falls squarely on Trump and his new lapdog postmaster general.Don't care, they've been a train wreck in need of financial reform for decades.

Is there a scenario where you don’t make excuses for this asshole?  Blaming the post office for problems Trump admitted to is fucking looney tunes. This is a media circus.  Again the numbers are as follows:  472 million pieces of mail delivered daily.  130 million ballots isn't even going to register on Cliff Clavin's mail route.

Rural Americans get hit the hardest when the post office is dismantled, including vets and tribes.  I saw that 20% of Americans pay their bills by mail, receive their medication.  15% of America (40 million Americans do not have broadband)

UPS and Amazon do not serve rural communities, and won’t if the post office disappears.  UPS going to go out of their own way and profit model to drop off medications to rural communities who are disabled citizens?  What about the Meds by Mail VA program?  For the poor Americans that the GOP loves, why force them to use a private and more expensive option?  For profit entities do not have an obligation to serve these people.

USPS is a service, not a business.  It serves Americans, a majority of our small businesses and our military, but hey to keep Trump as President, fuck them right?
I have a commercial shipping account with UPS and use them frequently to ship things like saddles, tack, books, dvds etc.  We ship to farms and ranches many miles past the middle of nowhere.  I've never encountered a problem with UPS getting the stuff to them.

Why now in the middle of the pandemic, there is only one reason that makes sense.  It will be "interesting" to see if there was any targeting of box and equipment removal, jeeze ya think.

Why now?  They've been asking for more funding since before the pandemic.  We as a country are broke and have more important things to worry about.  They either need to figure out how to run the service cheaper by make cuts or raise the .  Just like every business when times are tough you get forced to make cuts.  The article I read on boxes being taken where in areas where there were multiple boxes and they weren't being used so they cut the number of boxes at those locations. IF you can find a location where they took all the boxes and didn't have one within a reasonable travel distance then I'd agree with you that it would be a problem.

My business works with every reservation in South Dakota and ship UPS and another local carrier to them regularly with no issue.  I wouldnt doubt that there are places like in Alaska that dont get UPS service due to the remoteness of them and lack of access except by ice road or float plane,  but then again from watching the Alaska shows,  I dont think they get regular mail in those locations either.

Good, are we now over the Trump is stealing the election narrative?  Or are we going to find another BS story to fixate on for weeks about how Trump is kin of the Satan?

Got off the phone with a buddy who is convinced that Trump will beat Biden.  I told him I fear for anyone who lives in the city if Trump is re-elected because the cities will all be burnt to the ground by rabid lefties.

You are so woefully misinformed it’s comical.

The delays are real, there’s hundreds of articles out there about them.  Try reading for a change rather than relying on your country bumpkin experiences.

They are locking shut the fucking dropboxes. See when you choose to not live in bumfuckegypt, some neighborhoods have clusters of mailboxes grouped together and one universal outbound slot.  Explain the reason why those are getting sealed shut in Portland.

Stop blaming the post office for problems that are being ramped up by Trump’s handpicked postmaster general and READ HIS FUCKING COMMENTS that he admits he is sabotaging the USPS to purposely fuck up mail in ballots.

Christ you Trump fluffers are hopeless

On a related note, have you ever read What's the Matter with Kansas? Probably the best political book I've ever read...and it's just as relevant today in helping us understand why so many God-fearing, heartland Americans can support the most immoral president this country has ever seen.

https://www.amazon.com/Whats-Matter-Kansas-Conservatives-America/dp/080507774XWiki: According to the book, the political discourse of recent decades has dramatically shifted from social and economic equality to the use of "explosive" cultural issues, such as abortion and gay marriage, which are used to redirect anger toward "liberal elites."
Against this backdrop, Frank describes the rise of political conservatism in the social and political landscape of Kansas, which he says espouses economic policies that do not benefit the majority of people in the state.

Okay went through it and basically it's what it say's it is, a peer review, it's a critique based on his positions.  Have you searched citations on this paper?  It's political science, as hard a science as marketing, but you manipulate power not direct profit.  Here is my synopsis of the papers content.

Competing view's about the theories described in the book.  One concludes that more working and educated are republican, the other says in general they are more democratic. for basically the same reasons.  Bartel says that if you broaden the geography of the premise, that group, Working/Educated are more democratic.   I just scanned it, looked at ten minutes, I am not an expert and hate useless book club discussions, SO.

I think he, kinda misses the point, Frank was talking specifically about Kansas in a short span of time, not long term projection's of a broad geographic region.  Kinda reviewing the Donner Party within the context of the Irish potato famine.

Now that's my review, of a review, of Book suggested for casual reading, who says working from home is not productive
