I agree that he probably shouldn't be on the team next year, what the hell has he done? A lot of receivers could catch 10 passes in 2 years, or whatever he's caught.
Treadwell, at least so far, is a complete bust.
After two years...
• Adam Thielen 20 catches for 281 yards
• Laquon Treadwell 21 catches for 215 yards
Yes, Adam was undrafted and Laquon was a 1st round draft choice. But some receivers, no matter where they come from, just take time. Is he a disappointment? Of course he is. Is he a bust? Too early to know.
How many snaps did Thielen get during that time compared to Treadwell? You have to do better than this. Wright gets about a third of the snaps of Treadwell and outperforms him easily.
You'd think that fans would want more from the guy instead of all these excuses.
It’s funny. Some players get the excuses and others can’t do anything right by some of the same posters. Treadwell has done next to nothing but for some reason its excused. Contrast that to Trae Waynes, who to this day is still ripped on. Not as much this year but still plenty of people still questioning his ability even though he’s contributed much more than Treadwell.
Or a guy like Sandejo.
Sendejo. Sendejo.
Waynes was ripped much in the same way. As was Rhodes. So many are just so impatient, they have their minds made up about draft picks and will look for any reason to justify their decision, to say "I was right."
Treadwell hasn't performed like a 1st round pick. That is without question. But the facts are;
2nd year. 3rd year is often the defining point for WRs
First year was an injury and struggling to return from that
AT. Thielen has emerged and stolen the #1 WR spot. Would you sit AT for Treadwell just because he is a #1 pick?
Diggs. Diggs is a late round gem and dynamic WR. Should he sit?
Bottom line, our offense was top 10. We are in the NFCCG. But lets complain because a 2nd year WR hasn't performed to our expectations. He should be cut immediately so he doesn't ruin our experience.

No, but just as I pointed out concern in a new thread earlier this week regarding the offensive line and the wisdom of shuffling it around during the playoffs, I have the same concern regarding trotting out players who have done absolutely nothing over players like Wright who have proven production, especially in the clutch. I can still be a fan of the team, but voice some concerns that I feel might come back to bite us.
Playoff games are too evenly matched and there is too much at stake to not have your best players on the field. I'm glad the coaching staff is finally starting to play Wright more than Treadwell, although I have no idea what has taken so long.

Understand the concerns. I too wondered about the O-line shuffle. But with Easton out, someone has to step up. I think Zimmer wanted Hill who is a better pass blocker to be taking on Jordan. It wasn't without issue, but I think they played pretty well. Hopefully by early Feb, they will be clicking.
As to the snap count, I wouldn't read too much into it. I would bet Treadwell's snaps go back up this week as the game plan focuses more on the run. I love that about this team, the flexibility, the ability to adjust and attack the weakness.
If you want to look at one game and statistics since Wright seems to be the guy you are pumping up. For the game here is the following stats:
Yards accounted for:
Wright 56 yds 37 plays = 1.43 yds/play
Treadwell 34 yards (penalty) 15 plays = 2.26
Treadwells one opportunity at a thrown ball resulted in 34 yards. If he wouldn't have been interfered with he was in position to make the catch. My stance is he is the 3rd or 4th best WR on this team. You need 6 on a team generally. I don't care where you were drafted that is where he slots right now. That could go up or down. We still have 1 to 2 games left, it is very possibly we will need Treadwell to make a big catch in the upcoming game or game(s). He doesn't appear to be hurting the team, but neither him or wright have been flush with opportunities due to Theilen and Diggs. At most you would be looking for 450 yards out of your #3 WR. We have received that our of a combo of Wright and Treadwell. With more opportunities (balls actually thrown his way) I am sure he would have significantly more stats. He was drafted essentially be Theilen, Theilen has blown up so what is the concern. We have gotten essentially 1st round WR stats out of Theilen (elite stats might I add) while more pedestrian stats in the first two years for Treadwell. Let this continue to play out, if he is bad as you think he is, maybe a certain CFL WR we just signed with overtake him or Stacey Coley or someone else. This staff has shown if someone is able to produce over someone else they will play them.

i was going to go with the fact that they guys that get paid to evaluate players think that he is the best one for what they are looking for from the WR3 position... but hey, what do I know.. Im only a fan.
seriously, why the fuck does this come up every other week, are some people only happy when they are tearing somebody down or bitching about something? we went from the worst run team ever in the franchise history to being somewhat respectable in 1 year and we are to believe that having our best blocking receiver getting some snaps doesnt have something to do with that? we went from being one of the worst offenses in the league last year to a top 10 offense over all, so obviously the guys making the decisions arent fucking idiots... or maybe Case just loaned them his horse shoe.
The better question is why does it piss you off so much? Its a legitimate question about a guy who hasn't produced anything and was a high draft pick. I asked for one GOOD reason and the only one that is close to 'good' is that he'd be a huge salary cap hit if he was cut.
I find it goofy that you'd get so worked up about it.
you've been given good reasons the past dozen times its been brought up, but since you dont agree with them then they dont count as "good". goofy is asking the same question time after time and expecting something to change. goofy is when things are going great looking for something to bitch about in a week when the player really wasnt given the opportunity to make an impact. WTF difference does it make that he is on the roster and getting reps? is he taking a better players spot? wouldnt Coley be out there if he was a better fit? or is there some sort of grand conspiracy to put guys on the field and bury better talent? the argument doesnt make sense.
Beating a dead horse here. Do the coaches care about what we think regarding who is on the roster? Nope, didn't think so. Do you know more than the coaches? HELL NO!

Tread and Wright are both WR's but they don't play the same position = not interchangeable.
no but they can kick Wright into the slot and have AT and Diggs on the outside, which then makes Tread and Wright interchangeable.
But why do that when running Theilan from the slot has made him a Pro Browler?? You change that formation just to bring in Wright? Treadwell is an outside WR and Wright is a slot. Treadwell's main competition for his spot has been Floyd and he has clearly beat him out.

it changes matchups sometimes. if they can move Adam out of the slot and get a better matchup for him... why not? Wright and Treadwell are not the same type of guy, but with the flexibility of Diggs and AT, it really does make that 3rd spot more flexible as well.

Sticky posted a tweet by the Andy Carlson Show about the difference in snaps between JW and LT.
It was relevant discussion for a message board to discuss news.
Not to be a complete dick, but that seems like a solid reason why. And ... if people don't want to discuss the post, why attack the people that do?
Exactly. The whining and excuse making in this thread is hilarious.
"Not to be a dick" comment usually precedes someone being a dick.
To be fair, he did say not to be a “complete dick” ...

Yea, I think our coaches know all this and have been playing these guys where and when they want. But Theilan's success from the slot has limited Wright's snaps because he is slot only just like Treadwell is only outside. I understand that Theilan/Digg's are versatile while Tread/Wright/Floyd are not. My initial point was that Tread and Wright don't play the same WR position and are not interchangeable and I still think that. So counting snaps between Tread and Wright is not equivalent it is dependent on if we want to split Theilan/Diggs wide which we do when Wright comes in as we both pointed out. Basically it is not Treadwell vs Wright it is more formation dependent and our coaches have chosen to run with Tread split wide then with Wright in the slot.
