According to Florio via KFAN, Vikings are "obsessed" with drafting star QB this year.

Based on what they attempted to do last year and the situation they find themselves this year, I think this is true. I even think they'd move up to 1 (no matter the cost) if they thought the Bears would trade with them.

But I think it could be the Commies at 2. There have been rumors that Washington is interested in trading for Fields. They could trade back to 11, get a haul of future picks to rebuild that team, using just one of them to trade for Fields. Plus they'd still have the 11th pick if they wanted to draft a QB to compete with Fields.

Vikings get their choice between Daniels and Maye....or even Williams if the Bears don't like what they see when they vet him.
Florio is a bozo but I agree too. The fallback plan of Sam Darnold is just such a long... fall... back. No GM can sell that with a straight face barring some kind of miracle career resurrection for Darnold.
I see there's now a rumor thread about us moving up to 4. I think they're gonna move heaven and earth to get to 4 or higher. Letting other teams decide who the face of our franchise is by taking their leftovers is a dicey.
It's such an incredibly bad strategy doubling down on that player busting by mortgaging future high round draft capital is not something I'd want to be a part of. Even if that means rolling with Darnold and a mid round rookie for a year. DO NOT MORTGAGE OUR FUTURE TO TAKE A SWING AT THE 4TH OR 5TH BEST QB IN THIS DRAFT!
For Better or worse, this is exactly where Kwesi has put us.  If he does nothing other than Darnold and a mid-round dart throw to address the QB position, he's truly terrible at his job and should be fired.  If he misses on the QB that he's sunk al of his eggs into this basket for...he'll also be fired.  After letting the QB face of the franchise for the last 6 years walk out the door, he literally has no choice other than to address the position in a huge way.

I'm not saying this is the best plan we could have had, but it is where we are.  Kwesi has to produce the QBOTF at any and all costs and then hope he pans out.  It's a shit load to gamble on, but it's his career.....
It is surprising that a young up and comer like Kwesi would gamble his career on a decision with such long odds.
I mean, he has a Wall Street background. That's literally nothing BUT gambling.
Not if you know the game.

'Past performance is not indicative of future results'....KAM is letting everyone know to stay tuned. Its not over yet. Looks like he's going to dip into blue chip stock territory.
And whether he "knows the game" or not remains to be seen

The constant job justifying nature of online kids trying to be NFL experts is hilarious....and the obvious clickbait articles with gotcha headlines. So many ridiculous conspiracy theory stuff on how the Viking's trade is either amazing (yesterday) and now trending toward 'they may have messed up', for reason X and Y, lol. They are creating their own narratives and story lines to respond to each other to keep the buzz going. It gets to be a bit exhausting sifting through the garbage to find something credible.

Let's hope Kwesi wasn't riding the GE or Fannie Mae waves.....

There are 5 to 6 franchise QB’s in this draft. How they fair longterm is unknown because there are so many variables (especially where they go), but all have the talent.

All but Daniels have been talked about for over a year. Daniels monster season brought him into the conversation. This was widely believed to be the strongest QB class in decades.

There is no such thing as 4th or 5th QB - it’s arbitrary and beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

There’s also no such thing as “floor” or “ceiling”. It’s nothing more than draft jargon to justify in one’s mind why taking a guy who’s tape is subpar to another is a good idea.

There are no “tiers”. Again, this is a nonsense term that has no relevance to reality. It doesn’t actually mean anything.

Lastly, age is completely irrelevant. It in no way means a player will succeed or develop more or at a certain rate. Odds are only a couple become truly oustanding starters. Age does not determine that.

On the Justin Jefferson front: I would not trade him unless the team doesn’t believe they can resign him. If that’s the case, I’d do it now. This particular draft is stacked at WR. If for instance the Cards wanted him, it would take both their firsts this year and a 2 this year or 1 next year - either or.

I’d take our QB at 4, then WR at 11, then the Center from Oregon, then DT all in round 1.

The Jefferson thing is still so strange to me. Like it should be a no brainer that he is signed to an extension already, and the fact that he isn't is bizarre. The only thing I can think is that both Jefferson and the Vikings have been waiting to see what happens with Cousins, and on the Vikings end it's been reported we would be aggressive in moving up for a QB even at the expense of trading Jefferson to do it. I think he is an even more attractive commodity being on a rookie contract. If he were to be traded, the Cardinals make the most sense having a high pick, that could land us a quarterback, as well as the 27th pick. Imagine the draft flexibility we would have with picks 4, 11, 23 and 27. We coupd really reshape the roster with young talent and cap flexibility heading next year

Yah, it doesnt feel "quite right" does it?

One theory I heard that makes some sense, I dubbed the Diva hesitation

Jeudy, Chase and JJ are all due for extensions. None of them wants to be the first domino to fall and then get out signed by another the next week.

All 3 most likely wanted to see what the actual cap increase was too. That cap increase may move JJ past mid $30mm per at this point.

i dont think Jeudy belongs in the same conversation as chase and JJ.
Jeudy is all projection even after 4 years.

Interesting. Would not surprise me. The Diva Hesitation...sounds like a Robert Ludlum novel.
