Good players = good coordinators. Dalvin Cook's return is going to assist the new dude in a HUGE way.
I am certainly looking forward to seeing him again,  but am I the only one that gets a Sid Rice feeling with him?  I cant shake the notion that he is one of those guys that is always going to be dinged or otherwise hindered by injury.
I told you guys several things about Cook. One, he's the best RB to ever come out of FSU. Two, his fumbling issues were mainly due to him trying too hard to get extra yards since he was literally the only offense FSU had. And finally, dude got dinged up in seemingly every single game. Hammy tweak. Ankle turn.

Having said that, he always went back in a few plays later. Dalvin is a gamer, though a perennially dinged up gamer.
i remember the post.   i can live with dinged... injured is completely different hurdle.

Dalvin was the best RB out of FSU. I said he was the best RB in the class. He is a game changer. Needs to work on his durability a bit though. The ACL was a unfortunate serious injury though. Hope he can get through it and it doesn't become problematic

I am going to throw a name out there. Joe Lombardi. He has been an OC before. Currently qb coach for Saints. But if Vikes want to make a play for Brees which is a unique opportunity and we all know how Speilman loves unique opportunities. Brees has at minimum 2 good seasons left in my opinion. Arm strength could go some but the fortunate thing is he didn’t become great because of his arm strength. Vikes can draft a guy and also focus on developing Sloter. I know we are all tired of renting vets but Keenum and Bridgewater has not had enough sample size to say they are franchise qbs. And Bradford has but his knees are highly questionable. He has been injury prone his whole career too. Why not go for the homerun? Would anyone say that Brees is not our best option for next season?

McAdoodoo totally screwed the pooch in handling the QB situation in NY. I don't want that Ditka wannabe anywhere near our team.

Reminds me of Rhodes. Seems like svery game he had to come out because he is hurt. But not injured apparently.

I wouldn't get too caught up about Bevell. People will say that we already dealt with him, but he didn't call a single play when he was here with Childress. In Seattle he put together a great running game and above average passing offense when given good personnel. Factor out Wilson and there would be a little regression, but he's thought about very highly in league circles.

I  live in Washington and the whole fanbase of the Seahawks hates Bevell.  Seems there is this Vikings Seahawks' connection that causes these two teams to trade problems.

I'm not sold on Stefanski, but a big part is being leery of someone who has hung around since the Childress staff and through Les Frazier too. Is that unfair or lacking in loyalty? Maybe - but new NFL coaches often clear out the last regime, and coaches who are truly talented can usually find opportunities with another team. One of my criticisms of Zimmer was that he kept Frazier assistants like George Stewart and Jeff Davidson around - I think it showed a lack of interest in those areas. We finally saw some offensive life under a brighter mind.
Stefanski would just be the low-effort choice, and I am hoping a LOT of effort is put into improving this club for the 2018 season.
what you see as a negative,  i see as a positive.  he has stuck around through multiple systems and coordinators.  he has had a lot of experience in seeing what works and what doesnt and if he is still here there must be something about the guy that keeps him employed.  hes also young so he might have a fresher perspective on the game than some of the older dogs that are more entrenched in "their" system than in necessarily making a system that works for the players they have.
I think it really comes down to what Zimmer is comfortable with, he knows Stefanski better than any of us. We could also see another Shumur situation play out too. Say the Vikings end up promoting Stefanski to OC, they could still bring in McAdoo or McCoy as a specialist to help with play calling.

I have researched a ton this morning about the OC position. I was higher on McCoy. I think I have come out of this morning on the side of McAdoo being our OC. I believe he would be a better fit here with Zimmer and has the pieces to make it work.
And what details did your research expose?

Sounds like Darell Bevell is the favorite right now if it's someone external.
so does this speak to who they might be favoring in the QB discussion?  Bevell's best work was with a very mobile QB,  would that maybe suggest that Sam would not be a first choice for the team and maybe favor Case?  or I am grasping here?
I would think so, but Bevell's play calling left a bit to be desired last time he was here.  Sounds like an oncoming shitshow.
IIRC, Bevell never called plays when he was here, it was all Chilly
