Man, this thread derailed FAST.

Congrats on the new addition to the Thielen fam.

Say what you will about fathers and sons, a daughter will ALWAYS be “daddys little girl”

Hey @VG...

Did you think for one minute this would end-up over here on this board?

I did....
I was welcoming a baby to the world regardless of the lack of vaccinated parents. The divide is strong. It is what it is.

I find it very sad!  I thought it was awesome that you posted the Theilen family and their joy for a new child!  Assume the baby was girl, due to the pink bow?

I agree that he should have been vaccinated but felt your comments were over the top, JMO.  Just curious do you make similar remarks about Blacks?  They typically vote Democrat yet are the ethnic group least likely to get vaccinated?  For the data, see: https://bmcpublichealth.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12889-021-10862-1#Tab1  Look at the odds ratio, 0.46 relative to white, non-Hispanic which means, in this study, blacks were far less likely to get vaccinated than whites.
No, I don't make similar remarks about Black people.  AT is a white guy from a high population of Trump voters.
Your article states the non-vaxers are those with low confidence in scientists (see below).ResultsThe
results indicated that 68 and 65% agreed to get the vaccine for
themselves and people under their care, respectively. Risk perceptions
(severity of and susceptibility to COVID-19) were significantly
associated with vaccine uptake. People who relied on “conservative” news
outlets, Republicans, and who had low confidence in scientists are
least likely to vaccinate self or children. Non-Hispanic Blacks and
those with least schooling were also less likely to receive vaccine for
themselves or people in their care.
ConclusionsOur
study identified race/ethnicity, risk perceptions, exposure to
different media for COVID-19 news, party identification and confidence
in scientists as factors that would be affecting COVID-19 vaccine
uptake. The good news is that these are addressable through strategic
public health communications, but a lot of work remains to be done with
some urgency.

Just seeing if you were consistent but apparently only AT deserves your ire.  And of course, expressing ire because someone holds a different POV accomplishes exactly nothing, like most posts on internet groups!

I wouldn't say disparaging comments about African Americans either.  The data show, as a group, they are less likely to become vaccinated.  Efforts to increase vaccination rate will like require different approaches depending on demographics and reasons for avoiding vaccinations.  We do know that belittling and mocking is not effective means for increasing vaccination rate.  I'm curious if Nichelle has any thoughts on how to encourage and increase vaccination among the African American community?

Yes, this is a public forum and yes, AT is a public figure.  Thus he open to reasonable criticism on the topic.  Did he mention vaccination and argue against it?  Umm, no.  Some saw it as opportunity to criticize him personally and blanket criticize those who hold different political views than their own.  Personally I wouldn't have expected it on a Vikings group but should have known better.

Lol eh fuck it whatever. I should have known better. I debated about posting it. How fucked up is that? Debating whether or not to post the birth of a child.

I get it. I really do. So much damage from the last administration but this is where we are. Glad you got a laugh.

Trump's responsible for this 'damage'?

The guy was instrumental (Operation Warp Speed)  in getting a vaccine available.  He predicted it would be available in very early 2021....and was laughed at as naive & stupid
for suggesting a vaccine could possibly be ready by then. Remember?  But guess who was correct in his prognostication?

We get vaccines widely available in record time.  Many take them, some don't.  Trump urges people to get them.

So now we find out the Vike's own favorite hometown son, AT,  didn't get the vaccine (despite Trump's urging)...and the reason he didn't get it...is because he's surely a Detroit Lakes Trumper?

So I'm confused.

One thing we've "learned" these past few years, is that Trumpers are in a brainwashed cult.  According to many on here.
They sure don't make cults like they used to, apparently.

Make Cults Great Again!
