OT: Coronavirus
We closed our retail operations down yesterday...For at least 6 weeks or as situation dictates. My labs are pretty happy having daddy around. Not sure how work from home mom will fare through this lol!

Our ownership has been phenomenal. Valued staff and community safety first.

Let's hope we never see anything like this on our planet for the rest of our life-times.

But also let's hope we learn from this. I just ordered groceries for my mom. I found out about a Facebook group that is delivering supplies to vulnerable people. We have technology that was not around during the Depression. We can do better. We have to look at our own communities and do what we can. We can make a difference.

I’ve been down with a virus of some sort for 8 days now. The fever ended last Sunday and it’s settled into my lungs. I called into the state and was told I’m a medium level case. Since I don’t have ties to a for sure known case and I’m getting by ok they’re not testing. It doesn't give me much hope for them getting a handle on this thing.

Sending good juju your way Havoc...

From what I am just hearing, limited testing kit capacity is being reserved for the most at risk and health employees, first responders...

OTOH, I'm hearing NY State testing is now higher per capita than So K. And the famous dont seem to have an issue getting tested - and posting about it.

What state are you in???

Coronavirus In Minnesota: 1st COVID-19 Death Confirmed In Minnesota

In strategic shift, doctors in America's two largest cities are told to skip some coronavirus testingHealth officials in New York City and Los Angeles County are signaling a change in local strategy when it comes to coronavirus testing, recommending that doctors avoid testing patients except in cases where a test result would significantly change the course of treatment.

A news release from the Los Angeles Department of Public Health this week advised doctors not to test those experiencing only mild respiratory symptoms unless “a diagnostic result will change clinical management or inform public health response.”
The recommendation reflects a "shifting from a strategy of case containment to slowing disease transmission and averting excess morbidity and mortality," according to the statement.
The guidance said coronavirus testing at L.A. County public health labs will prioritized those with symptoms, health care workers, residents of long-term care facilities, paramedics and other high-risk situations. Others are encouraged to simply stay at home.
At about the same time, the New York City Department of Health directed all healthcare facilities to immediately stop testing non-hospitalized patients for Covid-19.
Quote:“At this point in the pandemic, demand for unnecessary testing is contributing to the rapidly diminishing supply of PPE and leading to a decreasing supply of swabs and viral transport media used to collect diagnostic specimens for Covid-19 testing,” a statement read. “Testing may play a more significant role after the pandemic has peaked.”

Best Buy to temporarily close all stores aside from curbside pickup starting Sunday

As the scale of the coronavirus pandemic accelerates, Richfield-based Best Buy has decided to temporarily close its stores aside from curbside pickup starting Sunday.
The electronics chain has also now suspended all in-home installations and repairs.
Earlier this week, Best Buy said it would keep its stores open, but would restrict access to only 10 to 15 customers at one time starting next week for at least two weeks. But that plan changed as the week went on.
“The situation we’re facing as a company and as individuals is unprecedented and changing at a pace all of us are working to keep up with,” Best Buy CEO Corie Barry said in a statement. “We are making the best decisions we can with two goals in mind: protecting employees, customers and their respective families, while trying our best to serve the millions of Americans who rely on us for increasingly vital technology.”
Through curbside pickup, customers will be able to pick orders purchased online or through the retailer’s app. Customers who are unable to place an online order can also use curbside to see if a product is in stock in the store and employees can go inside the store to get it, the company said.
It is not clear how long the curbside-only service will last.
While some employees have been questioning why Best Buy has remained open while many other retailers have closed to help curb the spread of the coronavirus, the company has emphasized that it provides a number of “necessities” such as technology that allows people to work and learn from home as well as appliances to prepare and store food.
“We are seeing a surge in demand across the country for products that people need to work or learn from home, as well as those products that allow people to refrigerate or freeze food,” Barry said.

South Dakota. That’s the problem here. They ran out of tests the other day so as they come in they go to the most needy. For me it’s unlikely anything would change even if I knew for sure I had it I’ve been at the house since Thursday last week.
I seem to be doing fine. Last 4 days there’s been very little change. My lungs are congested and I’m short of breath. That and fatigue are about the only symptoms I have now.

That makes sense about Best Buy curbside pickup staying open because there are more people working at home so demand is higher. I went to Staples for a monitor and had to buy the display model. My work is paying for it and they got a discount, but they are running low on supplies. I also got the last HDMI cable. These are definitely crazy times.
