Really? The team is going to try and get another kicker??

Another kicking 'savior'?? Excuse me while I hold back my enthusiasm. If he makes kicks in real games, that's when the yippees will come, not before.

missed the game---guess our kicker missed also?
Actually I don't think Bailey did miss. His 1st kick off was pretty pathetic though. And he's missed about every 3rd or 4th kick in camp.
I dont recall a miss but his kickoffs were bery short and the special teams coverage sucked.  Maybe short and not enough hang time?

I don't see him as a savior, but Bailey isn't cutting it, and they needed to make a move.

Agree. The more you get it wrong, the more expensive it gets to fix it. But you have to fix it.

Bailey has done absolutely nothing to warrant any more chances,  or to be handed the job without competition.  I see them giving the new kid the punting and kickoff duties and then if Bailey falters or they need a bigger leg the kid gets those chances as well.  I will be surprised if Bailey makes the season if they can find a decent holder at another position.

Sigh. If I'm a kicker, I'm staying far away from the Vikings. Its the kiss of death to sign with them since Zimmer has been coach.

At least four teams have called the Ravens to inquire about trading for kicker Kaare Vedvik, with at least two of those calls coming from NFC North teams, per a league source. Ravens don’t have to do anything in the short term, but will deal the kicker at some point this summer.
Honestly, I applaud the Vikes for this move.

Is Dan Bailey the answer?  Probably  not.   Also, we prevented the Bears from improving.  Win win.
Agreed.  They had to do something.  I know the Vikings were not satisfied with Wile as they had several guys in this summer (one I play basketball with) for tryouts.

Bears were front runners for Vedvik with a conditional 5th until the Vikings swooped in with an unconditional 5th. Baltimore didn't give the Bears an opportunity to counter....5 other teams had offers in...

If Vedvik isn't the kicker on opening day, this is really foolish on the Viking's part. You aren't doing this for his punting attributes. And good for Dan Bailey to step up and start nailing FGs in camp.

Well, Bailey is only on a 1-year deal...  the Vikings may be hedging their bets a bit with Bailey's future. Vedvik might be the punter and kickoff specialist this season and then be in line to be our K in 2020.  Hard to say how this will play out...

He'll be the punter, the kickoff guy and the long range field goal kicker. Whether he beats out Bailey for the shorter stuff remains to be seen.
