Florio on KFAN: "I still think Bridgewater is the guy. Yes, they're taking a Daunte Culpepper roll of the dice. Talking to Eric Kendricks and Stefon Diggs yesterday, they raved about him. The biggest question is can he move? That's something we'll have to find out."

The Vikings believe in a QB who hasn't started a game in two years over the guy who just led them the the NFC Championship game. That should tell you a lot about Teddy. https://twitter.com/JReidDraftScout/status/958721478069030912 …
I still dont know that we arent just getting some pre FA bull shit spin.  Its in the Vikings best interest to make the rest of the league think that they really really like who ever they dont retain so they might as well let the spin run wild.  ( i doubt they have their players planting these nuggets,  but I am sure they arent discouraging them either)

Greg Jennings said roughly the same on 1500 today.  Cris Carter has been saying the same thing all year.  I believe it is pretty much a lock that Bridgewater is on the Vikings roster in 2018.

I will like that,  but I am hoping that we arent locked into him and that he is agreeable to a competition because we really need to decent QBs IMO.

Yeah, I agree with that.  Nothing more than like a 2-3 year deal with an out, if needed.  I'm against a 1 year deal, as that could just put the Vikings in the same situation next year.  Get a solid vet backup/competition.  I think Keenum may have priced himself out of that role, maybe Bradford would take a low contract to be the backup, as I'm not sure teams are going to have confidence in him as a starter.

It's still all speculation for now.  If they do go with Keenum, I just hope they draft a good QB and don't feel obligated to stick with Keenum if he falters.

The only one don't really want to see as the starter is Bradford.  An 8 year career of mediocrity and injuries is enough.  Maybe he wouldn't get injured so much if he actually spent some time working out...

I am actually fine with any of them as long as they have to earn their money through performance and by actually being able to play.... and to be able to win a competition.  I want our guys to be challenged.

I would say it's far from a lock. I have a feeling we're going to hear "Case is the guy," "Sam is the guy," and "Teddy is the guy" for the next month and a half until we're dizzy and ready to pass out. You're right about Carter, though. He's not been shy about calling out Case and his arm talent weaknesses all year. I wasn't aware of Greg Jennings though.

why does teddy need to compete? he didnt lose his job to bad play
Well, he certainly didn't "win" it with "great" play, either.  It was handed to him... and he showed signs that- MAYBE- he might develop into a great QB.  But lots of QBs have "potential"...

take off the shades for a minute.  Teddy hasnt taken a real competitive snap in 2 seasons (sorry mop up duty against the bengals dont count)  Teddy has only earned the right to come back and earn the job IMO.  I like the kids moxie and I love his personality,  but he hasnt earned anything after this long.

It's just my opinion.  I'm not saying Bridgewater is a lock to be the unquestioned starter, only that he's on the roster.  It seems like that is just the timeline the Vikings have aligned with: the Vikings felt it was a two year injury (per Zimmer), Bradford came in on two year deal, Keenum got a one year deal, and it's all cumulating for the Vikings to go with Bridgewater and maybe one of the others.  IMHO, there are just too many people that state how much Bridgewater means to the Vikings and Zimmer for it to be just fluff.

Jennings also talked about Ponder a bit, it was on Mackey and Judd.  I listen to it sometimes while I'm working and it's a good week to listen with all of the guests on for Super Bowl week.

Yes, that "face of the franchise" thing is a big thing going in Teddy's favor. I think Case Keenum could grow into that. He seems to be very popular in the community, but Teddy took that to a level I've never seen before. I'm sure that's appealing to Zimmer, Rick and the Wilfs.

But the Vikings know the decision has to be made after careful consideration of all factors: health, talent, age, ability, cost...as well as character. All I ask is that the Vikings give this the due diligence it deserves.

actually, pumpf he did earn being a starter for an NFL team with great play. he was an awesome college qb, who lead his teams to wins, and was a heisman candidate. that led him to being a first round pick.

he wasnt some street free agent. his play dictatd him being a first round pick. first round picks are typcially starters until they prove they are not. then 11-5 and almost a playoff win in first year. maybe not many tds but also not many turnovers and played good against tons of pressure. didnt do anything on the field to not be considered starting quality.

now major injury happens and we will see how he comes back. i said it all along that I thjnk Teddy is Zims guy, if he is able to play and we arent in the middle of a magical run with a backup, teddy is this teams qb. in reality if the injury never happened, every single team in NFL wouldve taken Teddy over Sam, Case, and Kirk Cousins.

but the injury did happen and now we have another exciting off season of rumors and specultion. YAY!
