Browns notified they’re out of the running on Deshaun Watson, per team official.
And so it begins anew,  from the rising star back to the NFLs laughing stock in only 3 short years.   I hope this generation of Browns fans enjoyed their moment because based on history it could be another  20+ years for them.

I am hoping KAM didn't bring to much from that organization over with him.
The talent around him was there....in spades. The QB wasn't. Just goes to show that missing on a QB in the 1st round, which is far more likely than hitting, sets your team back years.

that talent wasnt doing much until he got there,  but leave it to the browns to alienate what positives they do have while looking over the fence,  and end up losing out on both.  good luck with Garrapolo.

I am not trying to say Baker is/isnt anything,  but he looked good enough 2 years ago that the browns were a dark horse pick for some last year to really make some noise in the AFC,  if bakers injury led to his lesser play, that injury will heal, but now that relationship is toast,  somebody is going to get a decent QB with a chip on his shoulder and the Browns will once again be left wondering what could have been as the prepare to once again draft a first round QB.

Missing in the first round at every position is more likely than hitting.  But when you hit on a QB it has the biggest impact to the team for many years then if you hit on an OL/DE/WR/DL/TE/LS/RB/ST/FB Smile  It's wonderful to have JJ on our team but he is not changing this team like a Burrow/Mahomes/Allen can.  As I always say, if you don't swing you miss.  Are the odds to hit on a Top QB lower then most yes but the reward is the biggest as well.

No disagreement. The QB is everything. It's why when you have a guy like....well, we don't need to go down that road again.

Missing on a QB doesn't set your team back years.  What sets you back years is not getting another guy in the pipeline.

Well, sure, that would be ideal. But name a team that has one.

Pipeline? Do you mean drafting another one or drafting one and letting them sit? Like Jordan Love and Trey Lance? Because although that's what fans like to see organizations do (draft them and have them sit a year) that actually rarely works out. The guys that end up producing are the ones that play early. So yeah, missing on a QB isn't ideal. But in the NFL, QB bandaids abound.

Per
@AdamSchefter it’s still a three-team race for Deshaun Watson between Saints, Falcons and Panthers, and should have a decision today. Browns were told they are out.

All his personal horseshit aside, he's going to change the direction of one of these franchises from a football perspective.
