Although it sucks if true ... How many players have been blessed with his longevity and contributions with a team?

And how many teams have been blessed with a father who became a part of our community?

We have all been fortunate.

I swear the Vikings 2018 goal is to piss me off.  Stop treating your players badly when it comes to payday.  Rolling out truckloads of money for a new guy that might not work out while undercutting a player that has given his all for the team....  just pisses me off.

What Brian does doesn't show up on the stat sheet but us fans know (and so does the organization, obviously) how valuable his role on the D and his veteran leadership on and off the field has meant to the team. I have to believe there can be money squeezed from somewhere else. I was going to suggest cutting Treadwell but after checking it out the dead money would be over 5.8 mil to go through with that.
Wishing for the best outcome for Brian, Pops. He's a well-loved player and the fans know his worth.

We've yet to see the details on Cousins deal.  Its apy is $28 but does it front load a bunch requiring all these tweaks?  As for Brob I can't see where we'll find similar production for less money?

A question for Pops would be:  Do players get jealous of other players contracts?  Might a huge payday for one especially since its fully guaranteed make negotiations for others more difficult?

I think I'd be kinda salty if I knew the reason they wanted to pay me 1/3 less was because we just dished out the biggest contract in NFL history.

Then you don't understand that its a business. Sometimes that leads to stone cold decisions. Doesn't make it fair, but when operating under the auspice of a salary cap and looking forward to paying younger players, hard choices are being made. The system is ripe for older vets to get the short end of the stick by either a) forced to rework their contracts or b) just get released outright.

I get Pops being mad....this is his son we are talking about here. One who's been excellent both on and off the field. But its just the cold side of the business.

We've avoided it for a long time, but we have an 84 million dollar QB now and a half dozen players to resign over the next couple of seasons. Tough decisions like this are going to be much more the norm for this team. I love Robison and I thought Murray played well for us last year. I'd like to see both take a pay cut and come back. But with Diggs, Hunter, Barr, Kendricks, and Easton contracts coming due next year, Waynes the year after, we better get used to the words "business decision."
