This is Hundley's 3rd year in McCarthy's system?

I read a couple articles last spring about how the Packers could deal him for picks and multiple teams were talking about a 2nd-3rd for him...pure BS. But the scouting report on him coming out of college was essentially that he couldn't read defenses and make good choices despite plenty of physical talent - still the case.

And McCarthy will be dealing with Kaepernick questions nonstop, hahahaha...
I don't doubt they could have traded him, for some reason teams love young QBs that have been with Elite qbs for multiple years, but Hundley sucks.

Green Bay should have made a move on Kap right after Rodgers broke his body. He could have helped them and given them a chance to hang in there and given Rodgers a chance to come back this year.  At this point they're dead in the water, and that's awesome.

His draft profile below looks pretty spot on, especially regarding his weaknesses.  And it doesn't look like the Packers coaches have developed him in the least over the past 2.5 years.  It's surprising that the Packers would go from such a cerebral QB like Rodgers, to drafting someone who "can't read coverages and struggles to process" and "appears to be lacking in ability to read defenses and create a pre-snap plan".

STRENGTHS Well-built with frame sturdy enough to handle rigors of the position. Asked to get through progressions and make decisions. Willing to stand in and take the hit when he zeroes in on his target. Willing to get take downfield shot and give his receiver a chance to make the play. Has the ability to maneuver inside of pocket to buy time. Poised enough from pocket. Has adequate release and enough arm when he sits down on his throws. Above-average foot quickness to escape pocket. Hit 57-yard playaction touchdown from under center against Washington in 2014 (just seven attempts under center all year). Good sense of pocket pressure and is decisive when he decides to bolt. Dangerous as a runner with enough speed to hit a big play on the ground. Dual-threat ability increases his effectiveness in red zone. Displays his toughness almost every time out.WEAKNESSES Hasn't shown an ability to win from the pocket yet. Protected by playaction-based short passing game that held linebackers and cornerbacks at bay. Internal clock is a mess. Has marginal anticipation, and appears to be lacking in ability to read defenses and create a pre-snap plan. Slow getting through progressions, taking 125 sacks in three years. Inconsistent weight transfer on throws, which affects accuracy (throws sail) and velocity. Needs to reset feet when swiveling from side to side while scanning for next target. Gets crowded in pocket rather than sliding to open space. Short-arms too many throws. Ineffective, inaccurate passer outside of pocket with lowest completion percentage in Pac-12 when scrambling (32.6 percent). Misses opportunities to climb pocket while keeping eyes downfield rather than taking off as a runner.DRAFT PROJECTION Round 4 or 5SOURCES TELL US "Someone will draft him, but I don't think he will ever be a starter. He can't read coverages and struggles to process. It is going to take a few years before he looks like a backup in my opinion. He has a long way to go." -- AFC area scoutNFL COMPARISON Jason CampbellBOTTOM LINEHundley flashes athleticism and talent, but his basic quarterbacking issues will take time to improve. In 2014, more than 54 percent of his pass attempts were from six yards and in, including 29 percent from behind the line of scrimmage, which is nothing like an NFL offense. Hundley is a "flash" prospect who shows the physical tools to be a starter, but his internal clock and issues with reads and progressions must be improved to give him a shot at becoming a decent NFL starter.

Hundley looks awful...  which I'm rather enjoying because I've heard numerous Packer fans stating that he could start for half the teams in the league based upon his preseason performances the past couple years.

Anyone else think they'll be looking for a new, shiny QB come draft time?
Nope. That would require reflection and awareness. Is there any indication that they have these traits? All I am seeing is straight up denial and utter stubbornness. They are getting in their own way and I am alright with that.
I think they are tanking the season.  rogers is 33 going to be 34 in a month,  if they get a good pick they can take his replacement in this draft and basically hope to roll the same way they did with favre,  ride rogers another 3 years or so and then insert new guy on a relatively cheap contract extension as your franchise guy for the next 10+ years.
Oh I hope they waste a pick on QB, Rodgers is far from being done.  Not getting him a real RB, or helping that terrible defense benefits Minnesota.

rogers game is predicated on his mobility...not necessarily his running down field,  but by extending plays,  he is getting hit more and more as his quicks leave him with age so I dont think he will be a guy that plays into his forties,  at least not in that system with that approach to building a team.

Or looking at it another way, only their second win in 25 years in GB.

I have felt for many years that the Green bay Packers have essentially been the Cleveland Browns with a quarterback.  For 25 years they have started a HOF quarterback.  They have 2 Super Bowl wins.  Put those two on the Vikings and we probably win at least 4 that I can think of, and who knows how many we would be in.  It drives me nuts when they talk about how great Clay Matthews is or any of a number of pedestrian Packers.  This isn't just goggles here, the Packers have drafted mediocre or less and relied on QB Farve or Rodgers to bail them out.  Same goes with the receivers.  How great really has Sterling Sharpe?  How about the current group of run of the mill receivers who we have to hear about how all world they are?  Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, and whatever other bum they have wouldn't make WR3 on 90% of the teams in the NFL.  Quite simply they have had a horseshoe stuck up their butt.  Eventually it will all even out I suppose and the Packers will revert back to the Lindy Infante and Lynn Dickey years.
/Rant

An excellent post!  And one I've been thinking about for the last several years.  The Dom Capers' D has run its course and has been exposed.  Their best D was outscoring their opponents in the first half and making them one dimensional.  I think I only heard Fabio Matthews name called once and that was for an encroachment penalty.
It's amazing how the loss of one player...albeit the "face of the NFL"...has exposed the Pukers for what they truly are...Cleveland with uglier uniforms.

That would really tick of Rodgers - which would be ironic and fitting given how picking him irked Favre. Last summer, NFL talk was about how Rodgers was going to want a new contract within the next year, so he could exceed the Stafford deal. I don't know if his injury hurts his contract dream or helps it by showing how desperately they need him.
