2025 QB class looks weak

Cam Ward could also be the 1st QB taken. Couple others I've been reading about who could factor into the 1st round are Drew Allar from Penn State and Jalen Milroe from Alabama.

Kiper updated his big board yesterday and has Ewers ranked 5th behind Sanders, Ward, Milroe and Beck.

And oh yeah, big surprise: the media overhyped CJ Stroud. I think he'll be fine, but he's not the next great NFL Patrick Mahomes-level franchise QB.

I also don't think taking a high volume of QBs is a workable strategy. None of them are going to get the attention they need. And how do you know if you have a good one? I don't think these things are always obvious right away. I think of Kurt Warner who was in a couple of camps before doing his thing. Would we even know the name Brock Purdy if Jimmy. G doesn't get hurt?

Also, most 1st round QBs bust. After the 1st round, it's a dart throw. Pretty hard to justify taking yet another longshot QB over quality position players elsewhere.

I guess I don't understand why they wouldn't get the attention that they need.  You already have 3 QBs on the roster, if you can't give them the attention that they need, maybe hire another coach.  These are billion dollar clubs.  They have hyperbaric chambers, personal nutritionists, massages whenever they want.  There’s no logical reason to not give the most important position in sports whatever it needs to succeed.

How do you know if you have a good one?  What?  They look good in practice.  This isn’t that complicated.  Let’s say they were successful in getting Richardson, and he’s looking like the player we’ve seen on the field in practice.  You just end up with a Kellen Mond situation, where he stays on the bench and keeps working on getting better and if he’s got a poor work ethic or is unworkable, you trade him to recoup assets or cut him if he’s super ass.  Now lets say you instead drafted Mahomes or Russell Wilson.  They’re outshining all the other QBs and it’s hard to keep them on the bench.  There’s not that many QBs in league history that look mid for a long time and then some coach accidentally let them on the field because they didn’t have a choice, and all of a sudden they’re HOF caliber once they get on the field.

I kind of feel like you are manufacturing reasons for why you shouldn’t try to get a good QB.

The reason you get a high volume of QBs is because all the other players don’t matter if you don’t have a QB.  All positions bust.  Also, High volume is relative.  We’re not talking about having 9 QBs on the team and drafting 2 a year.  Most years, unless you are a perennially horrible team, you aren’t going to be able to draft a QB, even if you want to.  It’s more about, if a QB you think is a quality prospect is available near your draft position or a mild trade up, grab the QB instead of the other player.

Other than Sanders, I don't think I'd want anyone from this upcoming class if I were NFL teams....including Cam Ward. Yeeesh. Beck looks like a completely different player than last season in the worst way possible. I think the next best thing coming in a few years will be the "March for Arch" Manning. Allar, other than good mobility, made some bad throws against Ohio State and a horrible pick in the end zone. There's no way I'd take Milroe in round 1......but someone might.

Bad, bad year to need a QB upcoming.

I cant believe whats happened to Beck. And Ewers? I dont even see him as a first round pick right now.

We'll see if anyone can change their trajectories. Time is running out.

I actually think Stroud has the potential to vault into the top 5 in the next 2 years.  His top 2 WRs are out, their OL is banged up, and he's still got them winning games.  It was a bad loss to the Jets, but Stroud is an excellent passer and only in his second year in the league.
