There's a Case Keenum pun in there somewhere but I'm too tired to make it.

Question; If Cousins misses a game because of Covid-19 does he get paid?

I just love the name. Sign Cookus.

Browning is going to prove to be a good backup QB in the NFL. I just don't know if it will be on the Vikings.

I'd stick with Browning. I think we're better off with him, knowing the offense inside and out, than a Bortle-ish veteran who doesn't.

What's more, this is Browning's 3rd season. After Kirk "fucking moron" Cousins, there's probably nobody better suited to run this offense than Jake Browning.

Also, people forget that Browning was a 5-star recruit, then as a Sophomore, he was a Heisman finalist who received a bit of 1st round buzz, but chose to stay in school. Shoulder injury/surgery the next season put an end to all that, but the kid can play.

I'd rather take my chances with him in a play-it-safe, game-manager role than some veteran pick machine like Bortles.
Agree 100%, I remember seeing Browning as a freshman/sophmore and thinking he was going to be a big time pro, he was on his way to being a top 5 pick.  I would not be surprised to see him become a legit starter.

Apparently, Jackson Erdmann also meets the minimum requirements.

I'm vaccinated and I want all the Vikings vaccinated, but it is their choice and I support their freedom to choose how they see what is right for them.  Although some lose sight of it, this is still a country based on freedom.
Not to mention their personal freedom to not pay income taxes, or to not wear seatbelts, or to drive drunk, ...

Well...I'm not expecting that, but I do think he deserves a shot. Mostly, I just want someone who knows this offense and can run it efficiently. With Kook Cousins, this could be the best O in the NFL. But even with a game manager we can still be top 10. Hellfire, with JJ, Adam, Dalvin and Irv, you could put a Greta Thunberg back there and still finish top 10. Ish.

I'll take the guy who has had an actual NFL snap. I'm not certain Browning can be effective more than 15 yards downfield.

Regardless, Kirk Fucking Moron Cousins has put his own interests in front of the team, the entire organization, and the fans. 5 day quarantine isn't going to help matters. What a fucking selfish prick.

With three quarterbacks expected to be unavailable for practice this week due to COVID-19 protocols, the Vikings have begun the process of looking to bring in at least one replacement. And a source said Sunday that free agent Case Cookus will come in Monday for a workout.
Cookus, who was scheduled to fly Sunday to the Twin Cities, was undrafted in 2020 out of Northern Arizona and spent some offseason time last year with the New York Giants and with the Denver Broncos in May.
For a Saturday night practice, the Vikings were without starting quarterback Kirk Cousins and reserves Kellen Mond and Nate Stanley. Mond tested positive for COVID-19 and Cousins and Stanley were deemed high-risk close contacts. Cousins and Stanley are expected to have to be quarantined for at least five days.
Jake Browning was the only quarterback available Saturday and he looked good. According to unofficial stats compiled by Vikings.com, he completed 26 of 37 passes.
The Vikings did not practice on Sunday. On Monday, they will practice for the first time in pads.
As a senior at Northern Arizona in 2019, Cookus completed 290 of 481 passes for 4,095 yards with 31 touchdowns and seven interceptions. After being undrafted, he was with the Giants last year from April 28 to Aug. 2. This year, he was with the Broncos from May 17-20. Denver’s first-year general manager is George Paton, who had been Minnesota’s assistant general manager and has a good relationship with Vikings general manager Rick Spielman.

I saw the news first on twitter. Thought it was a joke. It's gotta be a joke, right? That's a real name? Case Cookus? So we go from from Case Keenum carving our carcass to Kirk Cousins cucking our keister to Case Cookus cooking our tookus....Jesus, only Norse gods would have this sense of humor.

Totally agree on Kirk Fucking Moron Cousins. But not on the backup experience thing. How many snaps did Kurt Warner get before taking over for the Rams in '99? I just think it's more important to put someone in there who knows the offense.
