Looking ahead...

i am hoping tech like Mrna can get us future vaccines even quicker than Covid-19 (which is still miraculous imo)

Hoping our country learned not to off-shore critical infrastructure like PPE (but see whats happening with semi-conductor chips right now, so I have my doubts)
Hard to bring mfg home when you can't get anybody to take a damn job of any kind.

so now you want to raise minimum wage?
Not really,  I want the govt to quit buying votes by paying people not to work.
Free market, 300 bucks is 7 dollar an hour raise on 40 hour week.  Lot of folks have moved on from those $10 an hour job's bet a large amount won't come back, now they know what a living wage is.

Local McDonald's can't get workers at $15.  Airlines don't pay minimum and they can't get workers,  this isn't about Airlines living wage,  its about buying votes and keeping sheep in their pens.  Moved on...ppffft,  they aren't going anywhere as long as the govt is paying them not to work.  If they had any skills to move on they wouldn't have been in those unskilled jobs before covid.

Still very very high, approximately 3 times higher than they were a little over a year ago..  it will take a few weeks before the market prices you read about are the prices real people see if they do continue to drop.  Meanwhile I received 3 prices increase notices today from various vendors involved in the infrastructure construction market that are already more than double what we have ever seen including post Katrina which were the previous highs.

yeah and you will see supply chain prices increase, passed on to the consumer.  Lean, zero inventory is the cheapest way to produce, it’s also the most fragile. For almost 40 years American manufactures have pursued that business model, and I have seen it many times, when you get to “too lean” one bolt can shut down production for a model if not a whole product.  The whole economy is in sync.  Never once has the full economic margin of a lean system been passed on to the consumer, just smaller increases in prices.  But the owners and capital holders have received the full benefit of margin growth.  So in my opinion, this is just normal business cycle, before a major overhauls.  If you don’t want gov regulation when things are going well and them blame it when it falls apart, that's a fools cause.  Laws of diminishing returns, hope you have put yourself in an agile position to react to the coming corrections.

@Al - So you think we should cut down and process more trees in advance just in case we have a once a decade event?  Not to mention the environmental effect, climate controlled storage would result in higher prices all the time...not just during these very irregular events.

Or....building a wall on the border that Mexico will pay for. Both sides buy votes one way or the other. Except one type of voter has the cash to show for it. So who's dumber?  :p

Nope, just not panic and do the chicken little shit every time you find an opportunity to push an agenda.  What do you mean by process a tree?  How long do you think it takes to plan a forest harvest, it's not just a bunch of plaid shirted Canadians running around yelling "hey Jacques, there's one".

Or.. paying Iowa farmers for tariff offsets two years running, that makes 49% of AG income both years.
