I wish people were equally upset and quick to call the president names when he managed to politicize the only remedy we had to slow down the vaccine (masks and social distancing) and lie to the American people about the severity of the virus. Instead we spent time going at great lengths to discredit masks and social distancing and find excuses for the peesident. I wonder how many lives we could have saved with just a bit more planning and seriousness.
Incompetence you say? Look no further than who is in the white house. The President not only mismanaged the handling of the virus, he caught it, his family caught it and almost all his close associates caught it. He is the reason many people are skeptical about taking the vaccine in the first place.

The mayor of NYC is much more hated than Cuomo. But here's the thing: you have a city of over 18 million people. Logistically, its a complete nightmare for containing the spread of a pandemic without a shutdown. So I'm no Cuomo fan, but anyone else would have also been fucked in any attempt to do much about it. So saying he's the 'poster child of incompetency' is so much bullshit partisan talk. Just understand there's no good way to stop the spread with that kind of population density. Its unparalleled in this country, its our biggest city.

from the onset they (NY elected officials) were resisting the recommendations from Trumps team, they were encouraging citizens to go on with life as usual, and then it got away from them and suddenly it was Trumps fault that they werent prepared? Come on man.
as far as what NY city/state can/cant handle, well its their job to handle it, they want to run the biggest city/state in the US then they should be prepared to handle situations that arise in the biggest city. They didnt need Trump to tell them when to start preparing for a pandemic, they should have had a jump start on that regardless of who was in office. IIRC they had stocks of things like PPE and ventilators that they decided to surplus or throw away and not replace several years before this hit, somebody in the past thought it was important to be prepared, somebody else decided it wasnt, I dont see how that is a federal issue, or certainly not Trumps fault.
I will put a lot on Trump, but honestly not every fucking thing that is wrong is this country can be laid at that guys feet, this country was headed for a race war long before he ran for president, this country would have gotten covid and likely with the same results regardless of who was in office. i am not convinced that any president would have shut the whole country down for the amount of time it would have taken to accomplish nothing, the virus wouldnt have been erradicated and we still would have had flare ups and loss of life. its how viruses work.
I guess no one is concerned about any longitudinal effects of a vaccine that is being rushed into production, brought to you by the same government scholars that used to spray people with DDT.
