So high school and college kids aren't in school and probably won't be for the rest of the school year....flights are DIRT cheap right now.....its not surprising. Dumb, but kids are bulletproof. There are definitely some Floridians in that mass but many are also Spring Breakers from out of town.
I seen some kid on the news this morning saying. Well it only kills old people so I'm not worried. Great kid, since you've chosen to make yourself nothing less then a carrier. You should be obligated to run as fast as you can in the opposite direction of any seniors you might cross.
Aahh yesss bullet proof indeed.

its good to hear that china is on the upward climb, but people need to read this and understand that the US is roughly 3 months behind in terms of the timeline. China first found out they had the disease in December and didnt open those hospitals until February IIRC when the disease hit full steam. As there is no vaccine or cure yet, we must not let this news allow the US people to let up their guard in terms of following the guidelines and using smart approaches to dealing with the public and in public situations like shopping, etc. We are currently at about the first month of what appears to be a 3-4 month battle. I hope that social media is also pushing around the real dangers of becoming complacent to soon, as always common sense needs to be the guidelines to follow regarding this situation.
I always thought that “prepper‘s” were always a little
crazy. But, I have to admit, the tip I got from my crazy uncle is about
to pay off. I planted the seedlings last week after the shortage of TP hit.
They should be ready for harvest in a few weeks.
Praying it doesn’t rain!

this is what I am scared of, the arrogance of America, coupled with the ignorance of youth, being fed by the misinformation that is social media. the disease doesnt really scare me for me, its the 15% of our population that is in the "high risk" category and the fact that the longer we take to really just bite the bullet and shut down our social gatherings the longer this is going to take to get a handle on and the more people that will get exposed and die. Not to mention the higher likelihood that it will mutate into something that is more difficult to control and/or more deadly in terms of who it really knocks down.
Humans are capable of incredible things, bad and good. We'll certainly see all of it during these historic times.
That said, I am concerned we did not test enough bodies soon enough. What's being done in San Francisco should be mandated nationwide by the Feds.
We are not off the path to potentially becoming Northern Italy instead of So K here in the States.
Osterholm was very candid in reminding us this isn't a winter storm that we're waiting to pass, it's Winter.
"Insert Winter is Here" comment...
We should be building additional tent hospital capacity right now. NY Gov Cuomo was magnificent in his calls for action on Monday.

Yep,
Even I'm ready to be part of the solution now.

i think its the type of facilities that we need to be creating that will scare people... we dont need traditional hospitals for this type of scenario, we need massive facilities where you have dozens of beds in one area so that a small number of care providers can cover a larger area. hospital rooms are great for containing germs, but for the most part all the people in these facilities will be facing the same thing and once the staff has their PPE on they can move from patient to patient much quicker where as a traditional hospital would have them deconing much more often and they will burn through a lot more PPE supplies which would lead to more shortages. all these sports arenas and stadiums that arent being used for massive sporting events should be getting prepped with beds and other necessary things to make them massive metro health facilities. we dont really need the corp of engineers IMO a strong logistical unit coupled with some quality transportation units and somebody with the authority to make shit happen, just some common sense, the facilities are there, just get them set up and ready.

well like one of those smart ass kids said to some boomers that were giving him shit about being part of the "everybody gets a trophy" generation.... "we didnt give those trophies to ourselves".
If we dont like how are kids (and grandkids) are acting, that is on us a parents and grandparent who shaped them, and the society they grew up in, into the people that are saying and doing the shit that drives us nuts or makes us scratch our heads in disbelief.
we all wanted to make things easier for our kids than we had it, and all thought we could do it without losing touch with that work ethic and humility that we all think we posses ourselves.... but I think if we all stepped back and looked, yes we have a lot to be proud of, but we also can see stark reminders in our children of where we could have and should have done better.
