As I said two weeks ago, it always has been and always will be about the money. But PSA the Vikings, Broncos, and Jets can all offer similar $ totals. The way the contracts are structured is what will change. The Vikings would need to be front loaded, Broncos back loaded, and the Jets evenly distributed.

I dont... I want to keep our cap a bit more balanced and try to get better over the entire team so we arent as dependent on the QB position. After losing our QB1 for the last 2 years and really 3 of the last 4 if you consider that Cassell got hurt IIRC that led to Ponder and finally Teddy took the job and didnt look back. I cant see spending 30 on cousins (maybe 25) or 20 on Case (15 tops with incentives) I really prefer to see what Teddy has provided we can A. get competent competition and B. get him on a team friendly deal to ensure we arent saddled with him if he proves me wrong.

In all reality he won't get a fully guaranteed deal from anyone. The Jets can talk big but comes off like they're trying to run other teams out of the market so they don't have to end up in a bidding war against better situations. But I agree that the Vikings likely won't be the team to push all their chips into the middle of the table for Cousins. I'd imagine they'll sniff around the idea and be willing to offer fair market value but thats it.

Because Sean Payton is such a nice loyal guy??? Payton is 55, he wants to keep coaching longer than Brees can play and why gamble on starting over with a rookie QB? If any situation looked ideal to Cousins - maybe even worth sacrificing some money - it would be New Orleans: strong young team, good receivers, offensive-minded coach who has already won a title.

Why would it matter if they ran it or threw it after he signed the mega deal?
The Vikings attempted 527 passes and 501 runs.
The Redskins attempted 540 passes and 401 runs.
The difference is the Redskins defense was bad and they could not run very well.
Cousins was one of the top QBs on play action passes too.

Now he might not give much of a discount but as Guru has pointed out, a 5 year 140 mil deal is doable and it would make him the highest paid QB in the NFL (at the time of signing).
That is a strong offer from a contending team which he wants to play for.
I hope he does want to play here, but my point is that he may be concerned about going to a run-first team. I'm certain other teams bidding for his services will try to worry him that the Vikings want to minimize passing, play conservative, Zimmer is happy with just 21 points a game... A QB picking a team looks at three factors: money, chances to win, and chances to build his personal stats. (Maybe city, too, and we don't have a great edge there since FA visits are in March..)
