I’d unload JJM for 2x 1sts and 2x 3rds from the Jets.

The smart, prudent thing to do is keep Darnold and JJ for one more season and let JJ compete for the job. If he wins it, trade Darnold. If he doesn't, Darnold can keep this team competitive in 2025 and we keep developing JJ.
No guarantee this version of Sam sticks in 2025. And if he does, why wouldn't we want to have a young, talented QB behind him that is entering his 2nd year as insurance in the event Darnold misses time?
Remember when we had Kirk and no one behind him? Kirk blows his Achilles and our season was toast without a viable option to step in. We'd be idiots to go back to that scenario one year after getting burned by it.
They aren't trading McCarthy. Its fodder for some talking heads but it's ridiculous.

I love Sam as much as anybody, but if we trade JJ then we just throw out everything we did to get this team in a position to compete for years and not just 1 surprising season. I am not against franchising Sam this next season but beyond that…. I don’t know about that.
Devil’s advocate here—if we get to the SB and Sam kicks ass so well that he’s named SB MVP and we FINALLY have a Lombardi….. then I got nothing for a solution to this situation. I could see the Wilves saying hell no we aren’t letting our SB winning QB walk for a kid who hasn’t even played 1 NFL game, and with a resume of 1 real good showing in a preseason game…and a lot of fans would agree with them…
Of course the cynical Vikings fan in me says no way this could happen anyway so stop worrying, but I will say this: If there was ever ever ever a year I thought we could get to the big show and win it, this might be the year. But then again I felt the same way in 98 and 09, so….

No way! If the Vikings think JJ McCarthy is a franchise QB (pretty sure they do from KOC's comments), you aren't trading him for anything.
Darnold is having a strong season. He earned himself starting QB money and an opportunity to be our guy next year. But the Vikings learned from last season how you need to have a strong QB room if you want to be competitive every season.
It's why we signed Darnold (former top 3 pick), drafted JJ McCarthy, and added Daniel Jones when he came available. Our QB room has THREE former top 10 drafted QBs all 27 yrs or younger. It's not a coincidence after we saw what it's like when you have a career backup and a late round pick as your next QBs up when your starter blows his Achilles mid-season. If your starter goes down long-term and you have nothing behind him, you're fucked.
100% guaranteed we'll have Darnold/JJ McCarthy or Daniel Jones/JJ McCarthy as our top 2 QBs next year.

They're not trading JJM. This isn't a topic it's just social media engagement farming.

They're not trading JJ this offseason. That much I think is pretty clear. However, if they bring Sam back for 2025, which is very possible, then WHO they trade in a year or two is more open. But I will say this... JJ would have to look pretty bad this summer for the Vikings to choose to keep Sam's salary over JJ's salary.

I would make the trade because you could really stack the deck with 2x 1st rounders and 2x 3rd rounders the next 2 years.
Maybe net you 4-5 starters out of that? Cheap for 4-5 years. Resets our draft process since we dont have many picks this coming draft.
If Flores stays, I think we should re-sign Sam. So blowing out our injured backup QB and set ourselves up for the next half decade makes sense to me.

KAM hasnt shown that he would hit on half those picks. SD has had a great year, but historically lots of QBs find lightning in a bottle and then return to their previous levels, JJM is currently cheap insurance against that. 1 damn nice year from an a guy that was otherwise considered a bust doesnt come close to making JJM trade bait IMO.
Even if he delivered a Lombardi, JJM is still a Viking next year IMO. A conversation at the trade deadline at the soonest if all was still looking promising for Sam.
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?
