lets call a spade a spade though, the throw to KJ that got picked was a shit throw, he starred KJ down allowing the defender to break early and threw the ball late and behind KJ. The notion that if a receiver can get a hand on the ball it should be caught is the dumbest statement in football. I havent seen a good replay of the Hock tip from last weekend, but the KJ one IMO was almost entirely on Cousins.
and how much of Cousins success is due to having JJ out there? his passes this year have been high, late, in bad locations, but having a guy like JJ that can almost get open at will and has great RAC can cover up for some of the shit throws. I will always concede that KC is typically one of the best passers in the game, but his results so far this year have been suspect at best on to many throws.

Some fans think Kirk is the problem.....they'll only realize that he wasn't after he's been gone.
Yes, Cousins is a pure pocket passer with limited mobility and pocket awareness, we all know that. But as fast as the pocket collapses due to the massive push straight up the middle of the interior line, Cousins has held up extremely well and actually perform really well all considering. I know the majority here want a running quarterback that can pass too and are looking real hard for the quarterback of the future. But until the organization address the interior lines on both sides of the ball, the team will still have the same results. Any new quarterback regardless, playing behind this existing line is literally putting his own life in danger. Look at Andrew Luck when he was playing for the Colts. He got beaten up so bad behind a shitty offensive line, he only played a few years and retired due to numerous injuries. First order of business for the Viking is to fix both interior lines either through free agency or the draft. Here's where they should spend their money.

also I sometimes wonder if the stonewall OL is a thing of the past, the athleticism of todays DLs is getting so much better every year. I am not saying we dont have room to improve, but I wonder how much we can expect to gain without making some changes to our O including that mobile QB and making the location of the QB on every passing play more of a question to force defense to take a beat before pinning their ears back to rush directly back from the center on every pass play.

I am also all in on a 1st round QB this year (although I am afraid of Kwesi's drafting at this point). Isn't the thought on Cousins that he will want a 2-3 contract? If so, I am not for that. I say we save that money and sign a lower cost veteran QB (big drop off I know) for a tear the band aide off approach. Let the drafted QB sit behind for that year and build the team over those two drafts and free agent periods. Which takes me back to getting some value for Kirk sooner rather than later. He has no value after the season so I am all for seeing what we could get. Might not be enough but I want us to try?
I think our Offense is only a draft/offseason away of being fine if done right - IOL. That would benefit the drafted young QB to come in year 2.
Hunter is gone after this season with no compensation, and he is our best Defender. Our entire Defense is devoid of talent except for Safety.
Overall, this sucks but I really do think we are in a year or two of rebuild mode. My remaining concern is if Kwesi is the guy to do it? So far, I am very concerned about that. The only positives in about 40 player decisions is trading for Hock and finding an UDFA LB.

You also got to take in account that there are some defensive ends and linebackers that can flat-out run just as fast as running backs and receivers, capable of closing space real quick.
