Let this sink in Viking fans....the Bengals, yes the Bengals...are going to the Super Bowl while we are home again debating another off-season of change
at least there is change to be talking about this year, the last few years of wash rinse repeat has left very little to get excited for in the off-season. This may not turn out better, but at least we aren't just spinning our wheels and may come out of this with a new direction and drive for the franchise. Its unfortunate that the draft class is so devoid of talent at the QB position, but just having a new vision for the team will be interesting enough in the short term IMO.
I don't know, I always felt we were at least competitive and had a shot under Zimmer and Spielman until covid really derailed things for us two years ago. I thought with the roster tweaks this off-season we were going to be a definite playoff team. We lost so many games on the last play of the game or in overtime. Hoping for the best. It's just crazy in my lifetime this is the 3rd laughing stock Bengals Super Bowl I've witnessed while I have yet to see my Vikings in a single one.
I think that is called purgatory, that is the friendzone of sports analogies. I am sick of being just competitive, tired of drafting between 12 and 25, I want this team to make some big swings, and if they come up short then grab another bat and swing some more, but simply being satisfied with still being in the hunt in december has just worn thin for me and I didnt see it improving under Zimmer and Rick, i am really looking forward to see what KAM and his team will be able to accomplish, they may fail, but at least it wont be a rerun of the last few years.
I had a huge sense of deja vu yesterday.
I was eerily brought back in time to 1/99, Metrodome NFCCG...
I just watched that Chiefs team choke one away yesterday.
I felt a kinship with the Chiefs fans. Its just a game, but still tough to go through.

Well there goes years of therapy. Thanks for triggering a Viking fan.

I was there and had it buried away - till yesterday.
I'm in therapy now for @JustinTime18™ triggering my childhood Bambi trauma. You're welcome to join me.

Yea but the deer population does need to be controlled so Bambi is just your everyday fawn orphan.
While the Vikings fan population is aging and dying a slow tortured death with glimmers of hope that are a mirage.
BTW - I am a therapist (online Facebook course) and have treated many mentally tortured Viking fans.

98 still hurts bad. We had the team. We had the match up. We had the kicker. We had everything.

Now that is the real source of our trauma - 1998 - not a cute motherless fawn stumbling through the dangerous forest.
PS - I see you took the Facebook course as well. That was a grueling 15 minutes I will never get back.

I guess I should have rephrase this. I meant that I felt we were always just a piece or two, or small tweak away from getting to a Super Bowl. It never materialized under Zimmer/Spielman for various reasons, but the hope was always there that it could. Going in a completely new direction is scary for the fact that you just don't know how it's going to end up. We at least always had a baseline with Zim.
The Vikings have had a lot of bad luck along the way as well. Especially in the Zimmer/Spielman era. Seriously Teddy almost loses his leg in a non contract injury just as camp is closing? SERIOUSLY? Sharrif Floyd was rounding out to be an ALL Pro level DT along with Linval Joseph. A routine knee scope cost him is career. That is 2 first rounders who had freakish injuries that also impacted how the Vikings drafted and went about FA and trades. Unreal
