LOL. Again, this is not that unusual. MOST NFL teams are only going to have one, two or three players remaining after their first contract. Cowboys have one remaining from 2017. Seahawks have one. Patriots don’t have any. 49ers have one. And they had TWO 1st rounders that year. Remember, the Vikings didn’t have a 1st rounder that year. Also keep in mind the Vikings one…is Dalvin freaking Cook.

Context.
There is also how many are still on other teams. Yes Dalvin Cook is one of a kind. In a league that is high scoring, how much is he worth? The Vikings run first offense has been centered around him and that adds to his value. Also Dalvin has played about 60 percent of his games. How long does he have left? He is fun to watch but we'll see what happens.
Dalvin's only 25. The way his contract is written, he can be released in the final year of his deal with zero dead. He turns 30 that year. Decision time for RBs. We'll see what happens at that point, but no reason to believe he won't remain a big part of this offense over the next four seasons.
"no reason to believe"   none?   you cant think of any reason to create doubt on a players ability to play 4 more years when he has only played 60% of the games hes been eligible for to date?  at a position that traditionally shows the fastest fall off and shortest career length?

I don't even know what this is supposed to mean. That Dalvin Cook was a bad pick? That it's crazy to expect Dalvin to be a "big part of this offense" over the rest of his contract? I know you see catastrophe around every corner, but you're not making any sense.

he's only played in 60% of the games he could have over the first part of his career,  he plays a position know for early fall off and shortened careers,  and you cant see any reason to suspect that he may not be a big part of the offense for the next 4 years.    I am not really sure how to be more clear.

EDIT:  I removed the snark.  Sorry.

Just one example of why quantity over quality may, or may not, be a sound draft strategy!

Would be curious to know how many of Ricks coveted day 3 picks are still in the league from the last 5-7 years or so.

Only those with lots of vowels.  Olabisi, Ifeadi, Oli Udoh..

And Daniel Carlson, Tyler Conklin, Kris Boyd, Colby Gosset, Elijah Lee, Weatherly, Kearse.

It was very unscientific, I just looked at names I recognized and checked if they were on a team.  What is the league wide success rate for day 3 picks?
