Thanks so I am officially back on the QB with first pick then (if Mac Jones is there).
We have the perfect scenario to have him sit and learn for a year
Yea I have not swayed.  5 potential first round QB's does not happen often at all. Then add us picking 14 which also does not happen often at all.  We need our front office to hone in on the 4/5 (other then Lawrence) and identify who we think is a franchise QB and either move up at least before 49'ers (10) and get our guy.  Wilson was projected about 6 weeks ago to be around in the teens and now Top 5 easily and now maybe ahead of Fields who might fall after 5??  This will all change drastically after combine etc.  Lance seems to be hovering around 8-12 with an occasional Mac and Trask hovering around the teens.

I am pretty convinced that out focus will not be on any of these QB's.  Spelly/front office/Zimmer are committed to Cousins and his really bad contract that they created last year to try and keep some veteran Defensive players that did not happen.

I just wish Spelly will think out-of-the-box this draft and I doubt it.  He will think a 3T at 14 will be our elixir/fix for 2021.

This thought process does not mean I am anti Spelly or Cousins, it is situational for THIS DRAFT.

As much as I desperately want a legitimate franchise type QB, I just don't see the Vikings investing their first round pick this year on a guy they are essentially going to get no immediate return on with all the other roster needs, especially with no second round pick
That is the dilemma:  Their is always roster needs and I think we are far from one player away at 14 (QB's are different).  We need the "stars" to align across the board next year and I am sick of wishful thinking and ending up a borderline playoff first round team.  We need to think ahead because of this particular draft at QB and a pick as high as 14 which puts in range for a top QB.  Is an all pro 3T at pick 14 really going to put us over the Top in the next 4 years?  Would an all pro QB at 14?  if we wait for 2023, post Cousins, to desparatly need a QB that draft might have 1 viable QB in the Top 10 and we will be picking 20 as usual.  We will do our usual reach around.

Speaking of 3 technique's.....really nice night for Barmore.  Leatherwood looks like a beast tonight too on the Alabama offensive line. They have so many big athletes every year, it's really impressive

Yep. Barmore has played really well. He has flashed a few times. The athleticism on the 4th down stop on Mr T was pretty good.
He is also really fast and nimble fir his size

Quite the performance, but does his game translate strongly to the NFL? He's on an uber talented team with guys WIDE OPEN. I don't know, he doesn't do it for me for some reason. I see him being mocked in the bottom half of round 1 but I also saw Jake Fromm in the same position with mocks and he was drafted in the 5th round in actuality. No idea what GMs think of Jones.

I am not sold on him yet and certainly not at 14. I don't think they would take a qb with the pick and I am not confident that they make the right choice or would be able to develop one.

Brugler has him in his top 25. I'm not seeing it, but...

Vikes aren't taking Mac Jones at 14. Honestly, last nights game felt like a pro day for Vikings fans with Leatherwood, Barmore, and Wyatt Davis all playing.

Hell, after last night I'd take Barrmore in front of MacJones... :p

I dont know where the ceiling is for MacJones is the problem. Kid is smart as hell (4.0 gpa), looks accurate, has nice pocket presence etc.

But he plays behind a surround thats better than 1/2 the NFL teams out there, including an OUTSTANDING OL.

Maybe a 2nd rounder??? No way #14.

I must admit I went in not knowing much about Barmore but keyed on him a few and he was the real deal.
