49ers to sign Josh Rosen

Before the 2018 draft, Kubiak said Rosen was the purest passer in the class. The Denver Broncos ultimately passed on him in favor of LB Bradley Chubb.

I've been curious as to how much Kubiak actually likes and knows Rosen... and if he would try to steel him off the Bucs practice squad.

I guess I will never know if Kubiak wasn't that high on Rosen, or if Rosen (a California kid) just didn't like the idea of a cold weather state like Minnesota.

I've seen reports that Rosen turned down roster spots from other teams in favor of the 49ers.
I think Rosen is a good fit for what they do in San Francisco, which is the same thing we do, which is probably why Kubiak liked him. As a thrower, he's top notch, but there's something wrong there...and it's not just his personality. Don't know what it is though.

Here is some pre draft info from WalterFootball on Rosen:

Weaknesses:[*]Durability[*]Has had at least one concussion[*]Has had shoulder, hand injuries[*]Poor intangibles[*]Questionable leadership traits[*]Quality of teammate[*]Different personality; could clash with teammates and coaches[*]Could have problems with the media[*]
[*]
[*]Then I read/found this that is kinda funny because I compared him to Cutler in my prior post.[*]
[*]Player Comparison: Jay Cutler. There are a lot of similarities between Rosen and Cutler. Both of them possess powerful arms that let the ball explode out of their hands. They also are unique personalities with mixed intangibles. Some teammates will love them, while others may not. Cutler has suffered durability issues during his career, and Rosen could have a similar problem in the NFL. Cutler was a first-round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft, and Rosen is a lock to be a first-rounder in the 2018 NFL Draft.
[*]
[*]I also slightly remember that some analysts commented on his work ethic and commitment because he is very intelligent and I think came off like he has options other then football and football is not what he wants to define him.

Reading the  tea leaves, san fran is auditioning quarterbacks.

Why now?
If I am reading this correctly it looks like the 49'ers can walk away from Garoppolo with a dead cap of only 2.8 million next year:
Jimmy Garoppolo signed a 5 year, $137,500,000 contract with the San Francisco 49ers, including a $7,000,000 signing bonus, $74,100,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $27,500,000. In 2019, Garoppolo will earn a base salary of $17,200,000, a roster bonus of $150,000 and a workout bonus of $600,000, while carrying a cap hit of $19,350,000 and a dead cap value of $13,100,000.
