Face Masks...

How in the heck did they become partisan?

You think they should be mandatory or not?
Would it even make a difference in individuals behaviors?

In MN we may be on the precipice of a mandatory face-mask ordinance. We already have one where I work.

I think states have to think through it carefully. For example here in the northland, what you do in Hennepin/Ramsey and bigger population urban counties should be different than outlying areas.
ask the media that made a major issue about certain people not wearing them,  and completely ignored the hypocrisy of those they put up as role models or examples.   Trump doesnt wear a mask its beat to fucking death,  Fauci stands around after the press conference talking to people without his mask on and nobody says a word.   Plenty of examples of the media making shit out to be divisive by trying to ignore the failures of one party while crucifying the other.

couple that with the fucked up information we've been fed on this thing from day one and the over all mistrust of the media by US citizens ( about 60% of Americans dont trust the mainstream media) ... I wonder how it becomes partisan?

When the media was skewering trump and then making big deals about pelosi doing an interview with her mask on from her home in quarantine... who wears them in their own home except for to make a statement?

Personally,  if you want me to wear one in your business,  or your house,  that is perfectly fine and should be respected,  but I dont think they are nearly as effective as they are made out to be,  especially when they are not  worn properly by most that are wearing them.

If I was in a more Urban setting I would likely be more apt to wear one,  but as I have little contact on most days I rarely wear one.

I dont like those that get all pissy about being told to put one on or get out.  those people need their heads cracked,  just like those that try and get in peoples faces for not wearing them where they arent required.   IMO its a matter of you do you and let everybody else do themselves.
At the bold...
Very predictable response. How about everyone follow the guidelines that the task force recommended?
If you cant follow the guidelines your own personally assembled task force strongly recommends then we have a problem.
So that's how it became a problem and also partisan. Trump went out of his way to discredit masks.
This has nothing to do with the media.
Also very predictable to see the blame being pushed to Fauci. If I were new here I would think it's a coincidence but nope.. it's the new talking point and you are pushing it without shame.

If people are not wearing the masks properly dont you think they should be educated o how to wear them properly  instead of not wearing them? You may not believe in masks but guess what? This is not about what you "personally " think. It's for the good of the public so excuse others for trying. Your post really leaves more to be desired.

Lastly by role models you mean people like....
1. The president of the United states?
2. The vice president of the united states?
I dont think there are any two people higher than those two in the US.
If Trump was the leader he is he would have asked Fauci that question or made him wear a mask. After all Fauci is "working" for him.

I have less trust of people with masks because I have observed most wearers exhibiting dangerous behaviors, such as touching their mask repeatedly, including touching the inside of the mask with their finger to pull it down, and then touching other surfaces.

I would rather have them healthy and not touching a snot rag constantly.
Maybe you should educate them. Just a crazy thought

working on it.  See the post above about the NE Journal of Med stating masks don't protect against the virus. "the desire for
widespread masking is a reflexive reaction to anxiety over the pandemic."

i actually saw a guy this weekend pull his mask down and sneeze and then put his mask back up.....  i guess it would be pretty gross to walk around with a dirty kleenex on your face all day.

there goes that theory...

That's a good start. Now you can work on your choice of words. No one takes you serious when you call efforts to curb a pandemic "scare tactics" especially when you are using information that "recently"  (May 31) became available. Over all a good start I would still say. Keep it up

Thank you.  I feel so much better now that you validated my statement.

Just curious, does science have an expiration date?

No science does not have an expiration date but sarcasm does and you passed it when you were an adolescent.

Target said in a statement it would start requiring masks or face coverings starting August 1 in all stores. "This builds on the more than 80% of our stores that already require guests to wear face coverings due to local and state regulations," it said.Target said it would provide disposable masks at entrances to customers who don't have one.
The announcement came a day after Walmart, Kroger and Kohl's said that masks would be mandatory in all their stores.

This is how the US is dealing with masks during a pandemic when there is no federal mandate.

So instead of the Govt taking away our individual rights, biz will do it instead.
