First four picks in the draft
#11
I think if the right WR is there or near, they could draft one much higher than most might think...Agree, #2 WR and successor to AT is a big deal. I highly doubt that comes in FA.

I'd keep all of those picks and use them.

I really want to know your opinion on this. I really would love if it turned out this way and we could benefit right away. I am okay with people laughing at me if that is what they choose to do.

I would love if we went.... This all depends on if we add a CB in FA

22. A.J. Epenesa, DE - Great at point of contact. Power, speed, and moves

25. Ross Blacklock, DT - Great power and motor. Perfect addition to a hole in need

58. Prince Tega Wanogho, OT - Perfect in the zone blocking scheme. Moves well. Perfect fit.

89.
Chase Claypool, WR - This is about where I want to get our WR. Has is
it all speed, power, feet, great at contested catches, good route runner
I am 100% down for this. If we move Harris for a starting quality G, then adding two more to the trenches, and two more youthful DL studs would go a long way for this team.  of the final 8 teams in the playoffs last year, our OL and DT were by far the worst

two names I would love to add in FA:

Perriman
Jonahthan Joseph

Starting WR to stretch the field, TNewman 2.0 to help the young CBs along

Love the passion to project!  I watched the entire Iowa vs. USC move on YouTube. Couple of Giants were breaking down the Epenesa vs. Austin Austin Jackson matchup for their podcast. It was really interesting to hear NFL guys, and 1 was an Offensive Lineman, talk about college kids.

Their takeaways were that Epenesa is a freak athlete that is overly reliant on one or two moves. They think he'd be a monster 3T if some team moved him inside.

But I do agree with you that DE is a sneaky big need. Ogdenigbo is perhaps best used as a supersub all over the Line rather than as an every down RDE, which makes losing Weatherly a much bigger loss than was generally discussed here.

I like the idea, but not the pick. Blacklock is a great pick. Same with Prince. I'm going to disagree with waiting so long to pick a WR, though.

Is it a deep Draft for WR? Yes, for high floor guys that can contribute right away. But the high ceiling guys will be gone by Minnesota's 2nd Round pick.

I'm a little tired of the false narrative that a run-first team doesn't need 2 good Receivers. Hello, did we not just get walloped by a run-first team that also had 2 good WRs in Sanders and Samuels? Having 2 good Receivers is part of having a good rushing attack as the Defense can't just load the box constantly.

And I'll say it for the thousandth time, Gary Kubiak had two 1,000 yard Receivers on his Denver Super Bowl team. No, Diggs production won't be replaced solely by a Draft Pick. History says not even Lamb or Jeudy or Ruggs will put up 1,000 yards as a Rookie since it rarely happens.

But you still need a guy to take up some of the slack. And let's face it, Adam is over 30 and coming off the type of injury that tends to recur at his position. Johnson or Ceephus or Claypool, etc., are all good prospects but project more as #2 WRs.

Let's use the opportunity to get Adam a true running mate that is also his future successor. Mims is intriguing despite the limited route tree. That usually is the kiss of death for me after the Patterson flop, but Mims is such a freak athlete that it's hard to pass on him. Reagor is really good.

But I'm on Justin Jefferson. He's very much like Thielen in that he does a lot of damage out of the Slot but is perfectly capable of lining up outside and killing you there too.

#22-Justin Jefferson-WR
#25-Ross Blacklock-3T
#58-Prince T the OT
#89-Damon Arnette or Troy Pride-CB

I would be very happy if the draft fell this way. I really like Jefferson. DE is a very sneaky need that not many are talking about in my opinion. I have been back and forth on Claypool... I think you could use him as a WR this year and then move him inside when Rudy leaves if he does move to TE. I just really like what he brings

Thanks for the write up!

I like the Blacklock and PTW picks. Epenesa is interesting. I think he's going to be a great player, but I'm unsure of the fit. I think of him mostly as a 5-tech, but he could also be a 4-3 base end on early downs and move inside and a be 3T on passing downs. Who knows, that might be appealing to Zimmer. No idea what he has up his sleeve.

I think Claypool will be a move TE in the NFL. I heard someone compare him to Shannon Sharpe. We don't really need a TE, but imagine a weapon like that opposite Irv when Kyle moves on.

Well with some talk that we will have a defense with multiple looks, I think Epenesa could really do well in that situation. He could really move and confuse offenses in that role.

personally I dont see us ending up with 2 first rounder.  I am of the notion that with no offseason the way this is looking that the smart move will be to try and move about half these picks into next year when the coaches will have more time with the draft picks and be better equipped to know what they got for the future come cut down time.  I would like to see one of this years firsts flipped to a first for next year and a 2nd or 3rd this year,  as well as one of our 3rds this year converted to a 2nd next year.   I just think this virus thing will have teams locking players out of the facilities until mid June at the earliest and with no pre draft workouts that will really limit how much our coaches can do with the young-uns.
I'm on board with moving some picks to next year too.
The Vikings just lost 1/2 the defense. The biggest turnover they've had in years. So far they've signed one guy.
Some people here need to get real with their expectations.
I'm not saying tank, but if the Vikings are taking a step back this year regardless, they may as well put a better foot forward for 2021. If the Vikings front office is truly thinking long-term (you'd hope so, but this is debatable), then moving a few picks to 2021 is the right move, IMO.

Vikes lost 3 CB's and it's possible Ant Harris gets traded .

Holten Hill is 1 screw up away from a season long suspension

Hughes career  is still  in question due to neck injury.

The secondary has some holes and a lot of questions.

You just said it, though. The team has lost 10 players and added 1 so far. You trade too many picks into the future and you're mining UDFA and Veteran Cut Downs just to complete the team.

They may move some capital to next year, but nowhere near what Jimmy is prescribing. And the reason is they have zero plan to trade up and Draft his successor. Zero. Like it or not, Kirk Cousins is the Quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings until Rick Spielman and Mike Zimmer are fired.

Their potential new window is now 3 years. I expect them to front load the Draft this time instead of Trader Rick's usual schtick. They need at the very minimum 4 and more likely 6 new Starters from this Class. You get that by going BPA at PON with your 4 picks in the Top 89. Not by trading back to stockpile raw athletes in the late Rounds.

This is going to be a very interesting Draft. Both in terms of whom falls to when each Round but also can Rick resist loading up on late rounders when the team needs so many Starters.
