His agent said that was the case.

Maybe I read it wrong but that was how I took it I guess. Could be wrong though.

I love Ev and he can still play, but to throw a twitter fit and rule us out is dumb.  I agree with the teams decisions and Ev’s consistent drop off in Nov-Jan the last couple years makes him a rotation piece at this point, albeit a very solid pass rushing specialist

Griff came up huge in the NO playoff win.   Will miss him.  Hope Ifeadi is ready to take a big role.   I am sure his agent has some good offers on the table.   Interesting comment from the agent about us having to spend our money elsewhere.    I get the Pierce signing to replace Linval, but did we need to make CJ the second highest paid fullback, pay 3M + for Colquitt, and now 4M+ for Bailey?  Not denying Bailey had a very good year, but that seems like an awful lot of $$ tied up in a punter and kicker.

I think 3 for Colquitt is ok,  he is a hell of a punter and really calmed Bailey down as a holder.  Bailey... I dont see it at 4 for him.    I will be banging the table for a kicker in the 6th now for sure.

We are only entering the 2nd phase of FA. That's when the team does most of it's business. I guess we wait and see.

I was on the fence about keeping Griffen. He had a really nice rebound year and played strong against the Saints, but with the Vikings in salary cap Hell and a younger and cheaper player like Odenigbo showing promise, it is probably the right time to move on. That being said with both Griffen and Weatherly gone, the Vikings will need to spend a pick in the first 4 rounds on a DE at least for depth and potentially to compete with Odenigbo. There are a lot of high draft needs right now CB (X2), WR, UT, and DE. Not to mention OL. They have the picks to address most of those needs, though maybe not with immediate impact and while I hope they can fill some holes in the 2nd and 3rd wave of FA, they don't have a lot of cap flexibility. Hopefully, the cap situation will get better going forward, but we are going to have a very different and much younger Vikings squad.

Other than Odenigbo are there any other younger players on the roster that may be able to step into bigger roles? I guess Hughes and Hill at CB, but do any of our depth or practice squad DEs have a chance of at least filling a 4th DE role?

Can't afford him any more.   We move on.
