They have a lot of work to do but a lot of it was honestly done years ago. They have plenty of flexibility to not only get under the cap but retain some of their own guys and shop around the edges of free agency. The new CBA will actually be a major contributing factor in how things shape up for MN in the next month or two. Without clarity on how cap roll-over will work moving forward teams are going to be encouraged to spend up to the cap. Basically, use it or lose it. Hopefully that gets addressed shortly.
What are the odds they spend big to get a player like Joe Thuney.  Thuney played with Bradbury at NC State.  Well, they were on the team together and Bradbury played a little in Thuney's last year.

Do you think the Vikings are ready to move on from Elflein?  Would they spend north of 10 mil for Thuney?

They need to do something because the draft is not going to provide the answer.
They'll likely need to draft along the O-line, doubt they are going to get into many bidding wars this off-season. I suppose you can't say it "impossible" to make it work if they wanted to kick cap money into the future. E.G make the cap hit $3-4M in 2020. But that just isn't the Vikings contractual M.O.

Elflein is probably viewed as a replacement play at this point. But there is probably still a better shot you find a day one starter at left-guard in the draft vs. LT. To make Thuney even a remote possibility they'd need to move on from Reiff.
It seems that you are of the belief that they will not move on from Reiff (if I am reading the tea leaves correctly).
Do you think they will extend him a year or two?
Do you think he will accept a pay cut?

I'm of the belief that you need to know your production at LT won't decrease without Reiff on the roster. I don't think we're at that point. Certain positions you can take a slight reduction in play to fill another need and achieve balance. You don't want to be doing that at LT. Especially when Kirk needs reliable protection.

I do think Reiff likely would be open to a renegotiated deal and that likely would be in the form of added years. But I wouldn't go so far to say its a sure thing he is back the Vikings plans seem to be pretty fluid.

Only costs about 5 mil in cap space in subsequent years and could be modified-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Extend Smith 2 year 22.5 mil with a 4 mil SB and convert 5 mil of 2020 salary to a SB
Year Total Liabilities Salary Cap (Projected) Cap Room2020 $153,600,490 $201,005,976 $47,405,4862021 $128,172,057 $201,005,976 $72,833,9192022 $110,924,266 $201,005,976 $90,081,7102023 $95,080,000 $201,005,976 $105,925,9762024 $16,700,000 $201,005,976 $184,305,976

Cant pay Harris more then Smith IMHO.-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Extend Cook2 year 29.5 mil with a 12 mil SB. Takes him through 2022
Year Total Liabilities Salary Cap (Projected) Cap Room2020 $157,600,490 $201,005,976 $43,405,4862021 $139,672,057 $201,005,976 $61,333,9192022 $124,424,266 $201,005,976 $76,581,7102023 $95,080,000 $201,005,976 $105,925,9762024 $16,700,000 $201,005,976 $184,305,976

Adding two years and paying him about 10 mil per year for the next 3 seems fair-----------------------------------------------------------------------

With 43.4 mil remaining in cap space they have plenty to sign Harris, Waynes or Alexander, Bailey, Colquitt, Ham, and any others.

It does not include a QB extension either.

I am personally hoping they can sign Joe Thuney as the #1 target.
I wish you would have had this closer to the top (Extend Cook
2 year 29.5 mil)

I could have stopped reading sooner.
