We are not going to be bad enough to be drafting in the top 10 so this might be a year to trade down if possible and still land a quarterback.

Eagles signed Carson Wentz to a 4-year, $128M deal less than a year before drafting Hurts. I know it's not the same, but it's close. But the Vikings situation is unique due to where they are with the OL, the WR group, etc. I don't see them handing that over to a rookie.
I think the 2 or 3 year deal is going to be the sticking point with Cousins. Vikings are going to push for 2 and Cousins will push for 3. But I think they eventually get something done.
And I'm still fairly confident they'll also try to draft a QB. Not just because Cousins will be 36, but because he'll be coming off an injury. They will want to hedge their bets.

I think Cousins is going to play hardball even though he is getting older and coming off a major injury. He just seems to be the type that will start throwing his stats at the front office to backup his request for a 3 year fully guaranteed deal. Supposedly the reason Mannion was kept was that he wasn't viewed as a threat to Kirk's starting job so if that's the case it could certainly rattled his cage if he resigned and they drafted a quarterback in the first round.

That's going to be the big question is just how much are the Vikings willing to spend and guarantee to a 36 year old quarterback coming off a major achillies injury on an extension? The injury muddies those waters even more and it becomes a real role of the dice, even if he is our best option on paper. You know Kirk will be looking to get paid big money on any type of extension regardless of length. It's just not a good situation to be in at all. Does Kyler Murray become an option? Does Justin Fields become an option? Tons of questions at quarterback moving forward.

you stay where you are and dont get cute, if the guy you want is there when you pick, you make the pick, hell you may even pick up the phone and try and turn a day 2 or early day 3 pick into a move up if your guy is falling and you want to make sure you get him.... to much rides on getting a young stud QB in the mix than to try and add a day 2 or 3 pick and then miss out on your guy.
