Bad things happen, sometimes people do bad things, but I'm not for trying to legislate morality into people, especially based on a single incident that gets people acting based on emotions.
Legislation won't fix these problems, it will just let you punish them later, and their lives are probably pretty sucky now with how much publicity this got.
