I'm kind of warming up to the idea of kicking him inside on passing downs which is something Geoff had mentioned in another thread....& there's still enough draft capital to address DL again later in the draft.

Possible, but those mentioned were 3rd and 4th rounders. I don't expend a #1 on a lump of clay.
This!  You want lumps of clay,  trade your ass down and get value for taking him closer to where he should get picked.  Using one of the franchise's historically higher picks for a project is a recipe for continuing on underachieving expectations.
