I hope the Vikings say absolutely nothing about how everyone thinks of them.  They crapped the bed against their biggest rival in a most important late December game so now they lay in their own mess.  This team is getting exactly what they deserve.
Would you be more surprised if the the Vikings won on Sunday or lost by 21?  I know my answer.
Neither would surprise me much.

The GB game took the wind out my
sail for the Vikes this season.  Zim just can't motivate this team in big
moments.  Can they win a road game in LA against an inferior Charges
team?  Yep, but how about an important home game the following week on
MNF?  Nope, they humiliate themselves and kill any momentum for the team
and fan base going into the playoffs.

This is the least bit of excitement
I've ever had for a Viking playoff team that I can remember.
I love the Vikings as much as anyone, but I'll be more than shocked if they don't lose by at least 14 points; totally floored if somehow they manage to win.

Of course. Minnesota is exactly where they should be: a wildcard playoff team. They deserve nothing less and nothing more. Where the game goes Sunday I don't know, but the surprise would come from an upset.

I agree.  Even if they didn't beat the Pukers at home, how they played against them was what I was looking for.  Not having Cook or Mattison hurt, but to be given three turnovers and get a measly 10 points and not generate any emotion or urgency in the second half left me flat.

If they beat the Aint's, I'll be gobsmacked.  But if they get bounced, I'm done with the NFL till April.  No way I can cheer for any of the NFC teams.

Definitely understandable, HV. Where I part ways with you (and so many others) is using a team's performance in its last game to declare that this is who the team IS now. Whether it's a great performance against Philly or the Chargers or whatever the hell that was against Green Bay, it's just one performance on one particular day, based on specific match ups and the coaching chess match. Who the team REALLY is much more complex. It's a compilation of all their performances.  To suggest otherwise would be to suggest that the Vikings in another game against the Packers the following week would get embarrassed again. Which, I'm sure you'd agree, would not be the case.

So, yes, while the Vikings are the team that were embarrassed by the Packers. They're also the team that played pretty good football most of the season. And while New Orleans is the team that put up pinball points in their last 4, they're also the team that inexplicably lost big to the Falcons just a few weeks ago.

Saints are favored, as they should be. But no result would surprise me. Even blowing them out. Win and we get the Packers again. Lose and it's draft season. I'm just happy we get to watch Viking playoff football this week. Try to enjoy it!

One part stuck out to me. "They're also the team that played pretty good football most of the season"

They sure did, but it was against bad teams. The saints or any other team left in the 2nd Rd are not bad teams.

You have a good, healthy take, MB, as usual.  I'll be watching and rooting, but definitely expecting to see them get blown out.
It's not just the Packers game that lost all my confidence with this team.  It's everytime they have to play a decent team they look like crap.  The only win against a winning team this season is Philly, and I don't think Philly even had a winning record at the time.  The Dallas game was a nice win, but the Cowboys just aren't a good team either.
I expected an 8-8 team going into the season, so I should be thrilled the Vikes made the post season.  I guess I was sucked into believing this would/could be a special season now the offense started to show signs of life.  The combination of terrible losses against 2nd string QBs vs the Bears and Chiefs, and then getting pushed around and stomped on by the Squawks and Packers just deflated me.

I kept hoping they're going to put it all together and be one of the "elites", but they are who they are... a slightly above average team.

I think at their best the Vikings are one of the elite teams. And I would argue it's not as cut and dried as record against winning teams. It's about "how" they played in those games. The Vikings lost against Green Bay, KC and Seattle by one score in games that could've easily gone the other way. Even if they had won all three of those games, it wouldn't make them any better in my mind. They'd still have the same strengths and vulnerabilities. The Saints won 3 games this year against winning teams. All three were squeakers. And if they had lost all three it wouldn't make them any worse in my mind. All six of those games could've gone either way. That's just the NFL.

And so my biggest question is not how good are the Vikings. The Vikings are good. And they can beat anyone. The question is which Vikings team shows up? If it's the one that played GB, KC and Seattle (despite losing all three), I like our chances. If it's the one we saw week 16, I'll be watching season two of "You" on Netflix by the 3rd quarter.
