OT: FCS Championship last night
#1
If anyone watched the FCS National Championship last night, you were treated to one helluva game.
My hats off to the unseeded Illinois State Redbirds.  They proved that knocking off NDSU was not a fluke.

But the Natty came back to Montana State. The Bobcats got bragging rights for this year, and all of Montana (yes, even us Griz fans) are proud of them.
Will any of those boys play on Sundays in the NFL?  It's possible.  The FCS sends some to the big show every year.  Seattle's #1 pick, G Gray Zabel played for NDSU last year, and we all remember Jimmy Kleinsasser.

That 4th quarter and the OT was something to watch.
An entertaining Championship game!

I believe Will Dissly played for the cats as well. He was drafted by Seattle and is still playing TE somewhere. That was before they had much of a team. They have elevated quite a bit since my boy graduated there in 2020. They were the whipping boys at that time.

Yes, they were the Grizzlies' bitch for a number of years.
That's turned around.
MSU surpassed the U of Montana over the last ten years as the largest college in the state (U of M had very weak management...overpaid academics who rested on their laurels).  They finally got rid of the overpaid President and the new guy has infused fresh energy into Missoula.  MSU had a firebrand President the last dozen years...she brought all their department heads to my ranch on a part of her outreach program...back in 2013 or 14.  Last year, they were in the midst of a $400 million multi-tiered expansion project.

And they just landed a US Patent & Trademark regional office on campus...kind of a big deal, on the strength of their engineering and research programs.

Overall, I really like the extended playoff of FCS football. 20 teams and look at this year...an unseeded, at large team (Illinois State) made it to the Championship Final. That's a far cry from what we saw in the first round of the FBS playoffs.
