And Walsh’s kick was also from the 27yd line.  Hmmmmm. we need a 99 yd field that goes from the 28 to the 26.
no it was a 27 yard FG which would be from the 17 yard line.
but the ball is kicked from the 27.
No it's not.  It's kicked from the 17.  The goal posts are at the back of the 10 yard deep endzone making it a 27 yard kick.
ahhh!  well, thats news!
The simple way to figure is typically add 17 yards to the line of scrimmage to calculate FG distance,  10 for the endzone and 7 (I've seen some do 6 yards but thats rare) for the drop back to the ball placement after the snap.

It's funny that field goals are calculated from foot to goal post,  but punts are from the LOS to when the are touched down, put in play,  or go out of bounds.  Why do punters get screwed on that extra yardage?

Kick returners get yardage from where they catch the ball including calculate yards out of the endzone,  but a passing TD to the back of the endzone, distance is only calculated to the goal line even.

Kind of a silly game with all the inconsistencies....I bet a packer fan made the rules up for some of this shit...Likely in the moment.
