I think the Vikings are prepared to offer him all three.

Every time I look at the QB options for the Vikings, I see reasons why they probably would not work. As much as I hate Rodgers—and I truly despise the man—I only see reasons why he makes perfect sense.

I cant help but think if they offered Rogers the starting job, it would severely and negatively impact their relationship with McCarthy and his family..

I think if the Vikings brought in a younger QB that would be the case, but one of the reasons that Rodgers makes some sense is that he would not be seen by anyone as the future or JJ's replacement. Just a veteran stop-gap to help the team (and its pricey weapons) realize their offensive potential and an opportunity for JJ to mature and develop outside the spotlight, basically giving him a little more of what Rodgers himself (and Love after him) benefitted from: time.

I'm still dubious of it all...I think McCarthy needs reps more than time!

Not trying to dog on anyone that thinks we should bring in an established veteran...  but it's crazy to me how most of the fan base was ready to get that young franchise QB and get out from under a high salary vet.  Now that we have a young guy who has shown some good flashes of being a franchise QB, we all of a sudden want to let him sit longer for a high priced vet?

I don't get it.

Please no, not another former Packer douchebag at qb.  One was more than enough

Rodgers isn't a high priced vet.

Why gamble on him at his age?  And why delay JJ McCarthy's development even longer?

There is no big gamble if there’s no big investment. And there wouldn’t be. Rodgers is making $13.5 this year. He’ll be a year older in 2026 so his price can’t be any higher.

Why delay JJ’s development? Because JJ’s not the only priority here. The Vikings also have an interest in winning games. There is a lot of expensive talent on this roster that is just being wasted because we can’t find consistency at the QB position. I think JJ has a bright future, but let’s not forget that he’s still younger than every QB taken in THIS year’s draft, let alone last year's. We’ve seen the immaturity. I fear he’s more than a year away, and we absolutely cannot go through another year like this.

And if not Rodgers, then who?

So you're ready to give up on JJM after 10 starts?  He played much better as the season went along.  Why isn't it reasonable to expect him to continue to improve with another off-season and more starts?

I get concerns about him staying healthy after this season, but we're better off developing him than delaying his development another year by sitting the bench.  The only way we bring in Rodgers is if the coaching staff has decided to move off him as our franchise QB.  And if that's the case, it's a bunch of egg on Kevin's face after he declared JJ McCarthy was our franchise QB his rookie year.

As far as our high priced vets go, you can make that case every year.  NFL rosters turnover every 3-4 years.  When we made the decision to start him this season, we committed to seeing this thru until his 5th year option needs to be picked up.

Rodgers has everything you mentioned the Vikings could offer, plus a playoff team, and a year of familiarity, already in Pittsburgh. Is a 56 year old Aaron Rodgers really that desperate to learn yet another new/modified offense under KO that he'd move here? Seems unlikely.

I also just don't want to see the Vikings sign him at all so perhaps I have some bias ha.
