SI.com's Breer: Why the Vikings are betting big on JJ McCarthy

I heard more of a muted, chunky guitar thing in the background...but, that's the kind of restrained energy I like in a good, heavy song.
I'm excited for the season, and for the kid. One thing we've watched other top teams do is push in their chips on their QB, build around him, stay the course while believing in their mission. We've tried shortcuts, "ball control" offenses, teams with huge balance issues and/or gaps in important positions...and basically got as far as knocking on the door of greatness before getting kicked off the stoop. We're betting big, I'm hoping the payoff is even bigger...and for a good many years.
Build on 14-3, take back the NFCN, break the ****ing curse. Simple.

We have little to go by in our assessment of JJM. I watched the preseason game and saw a pick 6 early, which rarely gets mentioned, and thought, rookie mistake. But of the three passes mentioned in the article, pass number three sold me. It was a perfect pass, into a small window, on the sideline, laid in with precise accuracy and timing. I questioned whether a guy who never had to pass much in college had the arm talent to be successful in the pros. That single pass convinced me he does. It's a very small sample size, but he has the arm talent to be a very good pro QB. The beauty of it is, he doesn't have to be special with the team around him to have success. He has the talent providing the upgrade at offensive line and running back pays off.

I think the takeaway is a Hall of Fame QB pitched the Vikings on a Superbowl run and KOC said 'nah...we're good'. But you know: he'll either be good or he won't, so no need to read the fluff article.
![]() There's zero doubt JJM has much to prove to be the guy that changes the narrative. Just thought it was an interesting article with a little inside info. https://twitter.com/vikingzfanpage/statu...73/video/1 (Yesterday, 03:57 PM)MaroonBells Wrote: As long as it's not Adagio for Strings. Not sure how many have watched Black Swan with Natalie Portman (awesome performance) but there's song in it called 'Perfection' which is sampled Clint Mansell from Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's 'Act 2, Scene 10: Moderato'. Excellent piece, I highly recommend. |
