What about drafting a long snapper and then someone forcing him to be given the job for some extra PR with his military service? Or dropping him as a scapegoat when kicking problems started? And I know Cutting may have been doing badly but...why be surprised?

well cutting the punters and kickers didnt work in the past so it must be the long snappers fault.

So can we fire Zim (and even Rick) for fielding players on defense that should have been playing special teams?
The lack of talent excuse on special teams did not prevent him/them from firing Maalouf.
Last I checked Rick and Zim are responsible for who makes the team.

Pierce?  Barr?  Kendricks? Hunter? They all "made the team" and made the team what it was.  Lots of money tied up in this front seven that didn't contribute at all or the last part of the season in Kendricks case.  They are all probably worth the money as evident what happens when you don't have them.  But they were a HUGE part of the reason the backup LBs and backup backup LBs were playing defense.  And the rookie CBs are usually huge contributors on special teams, but they were starting or hurt because they were playing D.

Funny how a tidbit of truth offered by Zimmer is taken and twisted against him. Often by the same group that bitches that Zimmer never says anything honest.
It was a tidbit of truth that Zimmer recognized and said they would work to shore up.  He should be fired for being honest and recognizing a shortfall.
